  1. Air Con Evaporator Service

    As reported earlier, there were full of leaves, debris, etc trapped inside the A/C evaporator unit.

    Unfortunately, when NSX was designed in mid 80’s, there was no plan to install the pollen filter at the entrance of the blower motor fan.

    There is a big opening under the meshed windshield lower panel acting as the fresh air intake and anything fallen into there will be blown towards the evaporator.

    When the owner left the car at my place, he wanted me to have a look at the A/C issue as well.


    He had some A/C system service recently as there was no gas left inside the system.


    It seems that some of the A/C parts and possibly a certain pipe were replaced together with the re-charge of the A/C gas with green dye.

    There are several aftermarket A/C filter available from some of the NSX specialists.

    I normally just create DIY air filter using the cooker hood filter.


    It won’t prevent the pollen, fume or dust from entering the cabin but good enough to stop the leaves and large items passed through the meshed air scoop.



    Before starting this process, it is always a good idea to keep some spare clips ...

    When I first looked at the evaporator on this NSX, it looked not too bad for the age and the mileage of the car.


    Any way, nothing new or special so wore the protective gear and gave the shot of air gun as usual.


    Bad idea….


    There were 100’s of small pieces of leaves left at the bottom of the evaporator container. ...

  5. Blower motor fan

    As I’ll be cleaning the A/C evaporator later, decided to remove the blower motor fan at this stage to get extra room for other services.

    Once again, the lower bolts were completely corroded and the bolt heads were nearly rounded even for the 6 point socket …


    Spent extra time but thanks to the bolt extractor, managed to remove them at the end.


    Will be replaced ...
