simple green extreme cleaner

following on from a thread on nsxprime forum, simple green extreme precision cleaner was recommended.... so i thought i'd give it a go. the main selling point is that it doesn't affect aluminium, unlike most of the aluminium cleaners out there. the gently fizzing surface is all very well, and nice and clean when it washes off, bit i find it's always a worry, wondering if it's all been removed and there's not a smalll puddle in a web or cleaner in a seam fizzing away

so i tried this stuff! i found a UK supplier at www.encleansols.co.uk (http://www.encleansols.co.uk/), who list it on their 1012 industrial cleaners list, (but annoyingly NOT on their weblist!) here's part of what they sent me!

anyway, i'm not promoting the product, not connected in any way, just showing what i found! i've no idea if the same effect could be had with just a bucket of soapy water! still, here's the pix!

bearing in mind it was sprayed on as it neat, left for a minute, a quick whizz with a long handled dish brush (well it was cold) and then hosed off! followed by a quick blow off with the airline and a liberal spray with WD40!!! not too bad! obviously not perfect removing 20 years of grime, but i'm impressed!

i bought the "946 ml trigger spray bottle £10.99" just to see how it did, probably used about half of it doing both sides, and used it neat! obviously diluting it will make it go further!!!

When I can get outside I will be doing the same. However, what I'm keen to find is a decent protective 'sealer' to dress the newly exposed chassis after the cleaning process.

Any ideas?

If I had an NSX I would not use, unlesss I could make sure that none of it was left behind.

A few owners have had corrosion problems withour using this, so why give it a chance.

yes, I agree, but that's simple green, the general purpose cleaner, not the extreme aircraft precision cleaner developed to address the aluminium issues. i researched too...

From the above it looks like the advise is to take your time, one arch at a time and rinse well as per Jonathan's initial posting. I odnt think we need worry about exposure to high temperatures ....

I trust Jonathan's research and will be using this myself. Plus, given that our American cousins love a lawsuit, if this product was causing issues there would be a really Looooooooooooong thread discussing thier actions on Prime. I'd say it must be working fine.

I'd still like any info on products that can be used to dress and protect the suspension components once clean. I note the use of WD-40, but surely this would attract dirt to stick to your nice clean chassis??

wd40 was handy at the time!!

the oil/lube/coating that's everyone is raving about in the rodding world is 'gibbs brand lubricant'. it's an oil/lubricant/sealer/miracle in a can! it's gained its reputation over here from the rat-rod fraternity as a bare metal protectant, where the cars are paint free!

I find that when I can't obtain the "Best Universal Grit Grime Effluent Remover", I manage the use of "'Finest Universal Cleaner Known" mainly because of the promise that if I can't B****r it up then I can always **** it up.
I'll get my coat.

Bloody hell it works well - even dissolved the wheel and tyre !
