My NSX has been laid up for some time but is now back on the road. I am having severe vibrations from the rear and have been advised that this can be cured by changing the gear box oil. Any advice and what oil should I use

Thanks

Hi Peter,

I'd advise speaking to Kaz. A twenty year old eleven hundred mile car may warrant expert advice.
Good luck. Perhaps we'll see you at Japfest.

Cheers,

James.

Severe vibrations? Always difficult for an online diagnosis but my first thought was towards the tyres, if it's been off the road for a very long time.
Use the latest Honda MTF fluid, that's the best and worth doing anyway if it has not been done for a while.

A bit more info is required though for a better stab at diagnosing it;
Does it occur at a certain speed, in every gear, when braking etc.

How long has it been sitting?

Has the tyres been rotated often if its been sitting for a very long period?

I agree...check tyres first.....does it still vibrate coasting in 'neutral'?

If you look at Peachy's first post this has been discussed some time back in 2009. I think these same points were questioned back then.
