OK, who's up for a Japfest convoy from the South East?
I'd leave it up to the Kentish / Essex crew to decide if there's a need for a Clacket Lane rendezvous, or elsewhere...

I'd suggest meeting up as before at M4 J13 (Chieveley Services) in time for a 0730 depart.

[Last year we headed off at 8am but did get stuck in a bit of traffic as we got nearer to CC... so I'd suggest heading off a little earlier this year]

The SW Convoy is aiming to be at J18 by 8am, so we could get to J17 by there or thereabouts, and Paul (NSX2000)s favoured back way in should mean we'd be at gate A by 0815 or so. Route from J17 here (http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=51.50308281183242~-1.7643249034881591&lvl=10&eo=0&rtp=pos.51.450775428742325_-1.3096770644187927_near%20Street%2C%20Thatcham%20R G18%209%2C%20United%20Kingdom___a_~pos.51.49288304 1501045_-2.2190558910369873_SN14%207EY___e_&mode=D&rtop=0~0~0~#Y3A9NTEuNDgyODkzNTU5MzAwMTJ+LTEuNzE2MT k2Njg2MDI5NDM0MiZsdmw9MTAmZGlyPTAmc3R5PWMmcnRwPXBv cy41MS40NTA3NzU0Mjg3NDIzMjVfLTEuMzA5Njc3MDY0NDE4Nz kyN19uZWFyJTIwU3RyZWV0JTJDJTIwVGhhdGNoYW0lMjBSRzE4 JTIwOSUyQyUyMFVuaXRlZCUyMEtpbmdkb21fX19hX35wb3MuNT EuNTE0OTczNTA2Mjc0MTVfLTIuMTIyNzE2MzA3NjQwMDc1N19f X19hXyZtb2RlPUQmcnRvcD0wfjB+MH4=); anyone who wants to join in at J17 could hang about and pick us up when we leave the junction - beaing in mind that we'd be heading north on the A429 and taking the first left: if memory serves, there's a layby around there somewhere.

So - who's up for it?

.........M25 J8 layby off the edge of the roundabout as previous years?...........

This only works for 3 to 4 cars max. However, you can always use the much larger layby area on the opposite side of the roundabout ... you'll need to take the exit to Kingston, A218 I think, head to the next RAB then come back up to the motorway, stopping on your left just before the lights. If its not busy you can get a dozen cars here ...

We can call it nearer the date subject to how may cars are meeting ...

Close, it's the A217...
Paul's right, more cars can fit in the layby on the A217. The layby on the roundabout is quite often inhabited by a friendly police car also....

Just a Suggestion...

But there is a meet point for those joining the M25 from the South and going around the bottom of the M25 but how about a Meet point joining the M25 from the North? And going around the top of the M25?

I will be joining the M25 on the A1(M) Which i think is Junction 23. I could meet with those joining the M25 from the North on Junction 23 or 22/21 etc. And we can join up with the others on the M4 J13.

What do you think?

I will be heading from Norfolk, if passing anyone on the way we could meet at a earlier on the journey if you like.

jaffaz32
11-05-2011, 12:46 PM
Actually to add to that, we could perhaps have a earlier meet point on the M4 like Junction 4b or i think Junction 5 would be better as it would be less busy. There the M25 North Convoy meets the M25 South Convoy.

If no one likes the idea of this. I don't mind driving down on my own and meeting on the M4 J13 as the current plan, Guess it depends on how many people will be joining the M25 from the North.

Senninha

MY first year we met at South Mimms services which is 2 mins off the motorway at J23. If you're coming from the East then you get to play in the tunnels en-route. If you're west of Sth Mimms, we exchanged numbers and kept in touch to pick up other owners as we moved around the M25 / M4. Worked really well and we had around 10 cars joining the others at M4 services.

The hard bit is keeping the convoy of 20+ cars together from there to the event due to some having heavier right feet ;)

I think what i'm going to do is wait in the services on the M4 Junction 5.

If i could have a couple of phone numbers from members coming from the south of the M25 then please text me as you approach the M4 Junction 5 and i'll join the convoy from there.

If anyone would like to join me on the M4 junction 5 to join the south M25 convoy please let me know so we can arrange a time.

If anyone would like to join me prior to the M4 please let me know, my Route will be something like A11, A505, A1(m), M25, M4.

What time do you think the convoy will be passing the M4 junction 5 roughly?

damn... popular idea around here... can't get anyone really interested on the 300zx site. ... It's a bit early for me, but I might see you guys at 7:30 at J13 - just to add a bit of anarchy to a long, long convoy of NSX's. I'm not taking mine this year :(

As long as something bad doesn't happen on my quest for 600 horses @ Surrey RR this evening .. I'll be in this.

Yep.. or to the back of one, as it's not nearly as clean as the show cars!

here's my dyno from yesterday. 450 at the wheels @ 1.06 BAR. The guy was saying that we should take it up to 1.6 BAR.. and that we could get 650-700 out of it... and I was like... errr.. "don't care to hear a load Pop!, 1 BAR is fine & plenty ;)"

Has anyone brought up the question. - WHY So Darn Early?????

- What time does this get everyone there for??? obviously set in stone and I have zero input, but 7:30 a.m. for Jnct 13... just seems a bit early for my body clock..

If you see some idiot in a white 300zx sitting on the side of the road, just past junct 8/9.... you'll know the alarm clock woke me up.

Hi Rob

If you look at the very first post in this thread, the plan is to arrive at Gate A for 8:15 (the gates are open from 8am) but I do agree with you 7:30 is early for the weekend, It will mean I've got to leave the house before 6am.

It is early, but history shows that we'll be far from the first there... and getting up 30 mins earlier when you had to be up super early anyway, doesn't make all that much difference, does it?
