On Friday 15th April 2011, you are invited to the inaugural NSXCB dinner with special guest to be held at the The Roade House Restaurant & Hotel, 16 High Street, Roade, Northampton, NN7 2NW.
In addition, we have the opportunity to be the guests of Mugen at their Northamptonshire factory in Northampton on the afternoon of Friday 15th April 2011.

I've confirmed times with MUGEN and costs with our venue so we are all set to go

This is the venue for our dinner http://www.roadehousehotel.co.uk/

Below are the details I've received from the venue

I confirm that this booking has been made for you and that we are provisionally holding all 10 rooms for you.

I understand that you would like your guests to order on the night and I suggest that we offer a choice of 3 starters and 3 main courses together with a vegetarian option if required. As soon as I have the menu finalised for April I will send you a suggested menu. This will be in the latter part of March.

I suggest that anyone staying has our dinner, bed and breakfast rate which is 133 pounds per couple. For those people not staying, three course and coffee would be 32.50 per person.

As far as the rooms are concerned I can hold them for you until Friday 17th March. However where all or most of the rooms are block booked in advance we have to change our normal cancellation policy and after that date I would ask you to accept responsibilty for the cancellation charge for any rooms confirmed by that date and subsequently cancelled. The cancellation charge would be 77 pounds per room.

To book a room at the venue you need to quote "NSXCB dinner" but you had better be quick as 3 are alredy gone!

Paul I hope you don't mind but whilst I was booking the hotel, I asked if they could include a vegetarian option for the meal as well as the 3 main courses.

Also could probably do the afternoon but not the dinner. Is there another thread on what the factory tour consists of?

Hi Rob,

I've done the tour 3 times now and I'm still really looking forward to this trip

The first part is an introduction to MUGEN, history, now and future. 2nd part is a tour of their facilities including their "garage" more like a operating theartre, spotless, here you will meet Ben, the main mechanic. 3rd part is seeing their Dyno room (cell) this is imo very impressive.

No you are not going daft, IIRC I've just said approx times, but I guess I should start to put firm times down.

We need to be at MUGEN for 3:30 so I was going to suggest we all meet at the Northampton Services on the M1 at 15a for 3pm, then a small convoy to the Factory.

Have fun in my absence :)

To save me driving round the two service areas looking for some old honda's, can I assume we are meeting on the Northbound side of the services ? (According to the website for the services, there are services on both sides).

Hi Rod

That's right there are services on both sides and you can get to both sides no matter what direction you approach (North / South on M1 or East / West on A43).

As you have picked the Northbound side then that's where we will meet. 3:30pm this Friday!

If we really twist MUGEN's arm they give us a sneak preview of something they are working on :D

Big thankyou to Paul for organising a great day. Good to see some old and new faces, see you at Japfest.
Sorry we couldn't make it for the twenty questions, it sounded fun, but somebody had to make the first move for bed.

All the best Ian and Sharon

Ian & Sharon, no thank you for coming and of course evrey one else who made it. I hope you all had a good time and all got home safely.

I would like to say thankyou to the Roadehouse hotel for looking after us, this is a small hotel which I would recommend to any body and 2 of us tried to book for the Silverstone classic weekend, but they are already full :(

A very big thank you to all at MUGEN for having us and a special thanks to Colin who showed us around and answered all our questions and Gareth who came from Honda head office to also answer questions about Honda's future plans.

If you can let me know if you had a good time then maybe we could make this an annual event?

Regards

Paul

Firstly, thx for organising.
Second, Mugen were very welcoming. Good of Gareth (Honda) to turn up and give an insight into the future.
Motor racing isn't much of my thing but it's good to see that Honda make engines that can be used in extreme environments (like my wife driving to the supermarket !)
Although I suspect armoured body work would be more appropriate for those locations where people can't get out of their cars without bashing the car next to them.
Perhpas a special addition CR-Z could be made called "supermarket ready" !
Regards to all,
Rod

Making this an annual event would be an excellent idea, We both enjoyed the visit and meal, with interesting and entertaining company, looking forward to next time.

Shame about the hotel being fully booked for SC, I guess it would be a good idea to try to get somewhere else booked real soon, did Paul mention a Hilton?
