So just got the prototype finished up, we done this first one in FRP with an overlay to get an idea in how it would look and gauge the fixings and fit, also we ran out of the specific mesh I wanted to use, so just put a different one in for now.

Sorry about the pic quality, was at a Honda/Mugen event today and the weather was bad so car is dirty plus it's dark outside now so just took quick photos in the garage. I'll get better pics tomorrow.

Some of the other members got to see the prototype in the flesh and they were really happy with it! even though its not the final proper version.

I rather like that.

Would have to be on a car with other CF/CF-like bits (intake ducts?), but it works well.

I saw it in the flesh today and guys it really does look the biz! I love the wire mesh design used and it does not necessarily need other carbon bits on the car. It so much nicer than standard that I have already asked to get one made up for my car, even though this is a prototype.

Havent done the sums yet Ary, but will have something for next week hopefully. Going to do one in full carbon fibre too but personally the FRP with overlay looks great and will work better cost wise.

Really annoyed that I didn't get to the event today - seems I missed seeing a lot of great stuff!

The ducts are on the list to do also!

Personally I dont think the hatch vent needs any other carbon bits to compliment it as its quite subtle looking because of where it is and possibly because we are used to seeing the black OEM one, so the carbon doesnt take away too much from the car. If you didnt know NSX's and was browsing over it, it would looks like the carbon hatch vent was always meant to be there.

Where if you add carbon side vents to just about any NSX apart from the dark colors, it stands out a miles. Which personally I'm not a fan off, but as the side vents are quite heavy, when I get the carbon ones for my car, I'm going to paint them to match the car.

Hi Sudesh it looks great, would there be a version without mesh? Just being me I guess, as I run no engine cover, just curious.

Thanks Ary!

If you wanted one without mesh, wouldnt be a problem! Would just look like the one you see minus the mesh.

That was basically the idea, matches the engine cover and side vents.

Hmmm... now I'm not a big fan of the carbon trinkets look anyway but on a black roof car you've introduced another finish. What was wrong with gloss black to match the roof, door handles, window surround etc?

If it's genuinely to save weight I'd paint it black (which would add a bit) but there are easier places to save a lb or two.

Just my grumpy old git opinion of course :)

Cheers

Like everything, wont be to everyone's taste, thats what makes for an interesting world lol

But as regards the black gloss to match the rest of the bits, it blends in very well if you see it in the flesh.

Vent garnish and intake scoop have been ready and selling since last year.

Have no further movement on the centre console yet, mainly due to finding a good spare RHD OEM console and the Centre vents so we can match that up. I have a pair of the door inserts ok, but I dont think there is any point in doing those first.
