Is it worthwhile to buy these 2 tools (07MAA-PR70110 and 07MAA-PR70120)?

Apparently they save you a lot of time as adjusting and re-adjusting the 24 clearances is obviously quite a repetitive task and having the right tool helps.

Opinions?

Yes, for the rear bank. Try to borrow it from another guy.

Not too expensive to buy from HUK. From memory about £35-40.
Cheaper than the US at the current exchange rate.

I checked this morning and they're over £120 from HUK for the 2.

Not only that but they have to come from Japan, which takes weeks.

Any kind soul want to let me hire them for 24hrs? :)

US is about $55 for both.

Hi, gcon45.

Instead of asking for two different tools, just buy them as a single set.

07MAA-PR70100: Wrench set, tappet GBP27.54+VAT

This is the one I use in Japan and you can save more than GBP100 by not buying them separately.

HUK price is actually cheaper than getting this set from Japan.

You can buy generic ones that are a lot cheaper than the Honda specific ones.
Laser tools #3729 (for 45mm pulleys) is about £14 on fleabay and you just need to use a 1/2" breaker bar with it.

Hi, gcon45.

If you don’t have the correct tool or huge impact gun, you will struggle to remove the pulley bolt if you have never removed it in the past.

If your NSX is AT or very early Acura MT model, then you need 50mm HEX at the crank pulley.
You may already have this tool if you or your mechanics worked on other Honda cars. Most of old Honda models use 50mm HEX.

If your NSX is MT and not the very early Acura MT model, then you need 45mm HEX.

I heard from another member (and just saw NSXGB's post above) that other tool manufactures sell similar tools but I have never tried them by myself so can’t tell the ease of use.

07JAB-0010300: Holder attachment, HEX 45mm. GBP45.40+VAT
07JAB-0010400: Holder attachment, HEX 50mm. GBP31.97+VAT

You will also need this handle to hold the attachment unless you have other method.
07JAB-001020B: Handle GBP44.01+VAT

These tools are not cheap considering their fairly simple design so you may want to source them from other places such as Amazon, Laser, Sealey, etc.

Some of the HEX attachment tools have square opening which allows you to use your breaker bar as the handle (as in NSXGB's post).
Again, I have never used these non-Honda ones so not sure about the fitment.

The tools can be easily made; an old tubular box spanner, cut down with a 19mm AF nut braised to it and an equally old screwdriver with a thumb wheel braised to it.
See attached photo;
The box spanner was an old imperial one but could have been metric; needs to fit a 10mm AF bolt head, overall length including nut 115mm.
The screwdriver started life as the shaft from one of those horrible reversible flat/cross point screwdrivers, overall length including thumb wheel 130mm.

My car's a 2002 3.2 NA2 so I assume it's 45mm.

I have a deep 3/4" drive 45mm impact socket and a fairly powerful 3/4" drive impact gun (the same one used to remove lorry wheel nuts) so hopefully that will shift the nut!

Failing that I could use a 3/4" drive breaker bar to slacken it.

Do you know off hand what this nut should be torqued to when fitting the new pulley?

Lucky you to have access to 3/4" gun.

For 2002 MT car, it's 45mm.

I presume you are re-using the existing pulley bolt so the torque is 245Nm.

Please follow the Workshop manual on which area to be cleaned and lublicated at the pulley bolt. Otherwise, you will really stuggle to remove the bolt next time.

On some of the NSX, I had to apply more than 700Nm to loosen the bolt.

You need a 19mm impact socket for the crank pulley bolt. The 45mm is the size of the crank pulley holding tool.
