Hi all.My name is Pampos and i am from Cyprus..I always wanted to have an NSX and the time for it it is getting closer...I now have an Accord CL7 and a Civic EG6...As you can see Honda was and it will be always in my garage but i want the best one...I don't know too much about NSX's , so if i ask stupid questions please forgive me as i want to find and buy the best possible one...
I am searching for the NA1 model , white and targa but as i know it is very difficult to find one so the second choice is white coupe and the third is targa on any colour.
my first questions are
how different in power is the AT comparing with MT
What i have to check on this car to be sure that i made the best possible choice?(engine body etc)..The paint and the leather is the last one i worry about.
What is the cost per year of having such a car? (service, parts etc)
how easy/hard is to have it as a daily driven?
those are for the moment
thanks
Pampos

Hello Pampos and welcome to the NSXCB:), I am certainly not qualified to answer your technical questions, however, a full service history is more important than mileage and as a daily driver the car is as easy to drive as your existing cars.

I am sure some of the more technicaly minded members here will be able to answer your other questions, good luck with the search for your dream car,

Ian

Hi, welcome and thank you for visiting us on NSXCB!

A few thoughts against your questions ....

I am searching for the NA1 model , white and targa but as i know it is very difficult to find one so the second choice is white coupe and the third is targa on any colour. The first two are going to be really difficult, however the Targa option is easier without a colour restraint ... have a look on Autotrader
my first questions are
how different in power is the AT comparing with MT MT is circa 274, the AT is lower at circa 250, But, it does have a greater, wider torque figure that is effective lower in the rev range IIRC.
What i have to check on this car to be sure that i made the best possible choice?(engine body etc)..The paint and the leather is the last one i worry about. A solid service history by main dealer or recognised specialist, then check or have checked for chassis and body damage. In addition, I would take time to read the very helpful Health Check thread on this site for info on other things to enquire about when you find your ideal Targa.
What is the cost per year of having such a car? (service, parts etc) Depends on many things such as mileage, use etc. By example, I do 5k miles per annum with an annual service and second oil change and budget £350-£400. Do bear in mind that at specific intervals you will need timing belts, water pump, valve clearances and these can add around £800 each at main delear prices. (Cpmbining them will save you ££)
how easy/hard is to have it as a daily driven? As easy as a Civic was the original marketting spin. In the real world you will take more time to park, but in practible terms you can fit a lot of kit into the NSX.

Hope this helps and good luck

regards, Paul

Thank you guys for the welcome....Those infos are very useful to me,it is great that i can use it as a daily driven car,and also the maintenance it is not too expensive comparing on what i am paying for my Accord or Civic...The ''problem'' is that i am going to buy it from UK so i have to find someone to check it for me or i have to travel over there to see it...White is my first option(no matter if it is coupe or targa) and then the targa in any colour..
i already check on the Autotrader, Pistonheads and at the marketplace of the forum and i found 2-3 interesting cars for my budget and on what i want (i think that all of them are listed on the above lists), without saying that the rest of them are not good..NSX IS ALWAYS AN NSX.........

Pampos,

The previous owner of my car moved to Cyprus and took it with him, then he sent it back because they wanted so much for him to keep it there (he's pretty loaded so when he says a lot and has a 54 plate car I think it's unreasonable).

Maybe worth looking into this before going further.

Cheers,

Luke

If i got your point you mean that it is better to check how much it will cost to me after the buy to drive it in Cyprus? If yes, that's the reason that i am looking for the NA1 model. The older the cheaper...if it is a new model the taxes and everything it is about 20-30k euros which it is a crazy amount,if you think that you will buy a car that it will cost almost the same as the taxes...
As for the NA1 model (lets say 1991 model 3.0L engine) i will pay about 1500 euros for taxes(which it is normally 22k euros but after the discount because of the age of the car +10% because of the emissions it is about 1,5k) , 3500 euros for the registration and the ''license to drive it'' (it is an amount according to the cc of each car that we have to pay every year, and for the NSX it is about 700-800 euros per year), i have to pay about 1500 euros for shipping from UK to Cyprus ..So it will cost me the selling price of the car +7k euros approximately....
i already know those thinks that's why i am looking to find the old one as cheap as possible :):)
