May 1st-2nd

"This is the very first and only opportunity for anyone in the UK will be able to view the limited edition Honda before it is transported to Europe for its official opening."

So reads the brochure that arrived through my door. This is obviously rubbish, but I have asked if we will be able to drive it, and if so, it could be worth a mini-meet.

We both know where one is alive and revving ;)

That said, I like the idea of a mini meet and a Civic thrashing :D

Over to you to set it up and we can get brekkie/coffee on site!

I don't think we will get a chance to drive it, but may still be worth meeting up.

At some point, I would like to have a look at the following

1. S2000 (should be one at Chiswick)
2. Coxster Spyder (at Porsche Chiswick)
3. Evora (Bell and Colvill)
4. Clio 200 - think there is a specialist in Sussex.

Only if they have any used ones in....... all new ones are now gone :(

I find it quite funny that Ford can announce a chipped and wrapped Focus run out model of 500 cars for £35-38k and it sells out in 24 hours and no-one bats an eyelid at the price.

Honda, working with Mugen is hand preparing just 20 Civics, fine tuning handling and other tuneable areas of this unique car for each initial owner, and the only comment you hear on this Honda site is that its too dear. I wonder how many will think the asking price of their NSX if it goes up for sale is too high for a Honda ... not very likely is it.

If I had the cash to enjoy one of these I know where my money would go.

Shame we cant get to drive the Civic, but I'll try to join you if you firm this up

regards, Paul

Well i wouldn't pay the asking price of the standard one let alone these ones you are mentioning.
I think 30K+ for ANY hot hatch is too much money.

I certainly am, but am not sure what time yet. It may be on Sunday morning, but will probably have old man in tow as I want him to choose betwen S2000 and Clio 200. We could always do a Monday morning drive somewhere south east M25.

It pains me to say it but the Focus has more road presence and a better overall driving experience from what I have read. Also in UK the RS badge is better thought of.

Popped in on the way back from the Renault garage and got to say I was overwhelmed with how much effort Chiswick had put in. There were hundreds of people clamouring over the car and the dozens of salesmen laid on were struggling to cope.

I wouldn't pay more than ten thousand on any ford this side of a GT. Common as muck.

Quite supprised to see a Mugen Civic at a local petrol station last night.I thought at first it may be a copy but when i got closer i could see the Honda dealers name on the side of the car.It was white with a massive black lightening effect sticker down either side.Made it look really boy racer.

There is a good chance certain UK dealers are getting the Mugen franchise. I have a very good relationship with my dealer and they told me that, they have secured the Mugen franchise for N.I and in the process of setting up for it at the moment.

Yes, that is true; there will be 8 dealers participating in a pilot scheme for a start , including one in N.I. The pilot scheme itself covers the Honda Civic initially, and will expand to include other models as we go on, however a few of the dealers have already signed up to cover all available Mugen products.
Details of the dealers will be launched on the Mugen Euro web-site this coming week.

Honda charge enough for parts as it is,can you imagine how much you will get stung for Mugen parts

There used to be quite a good link with Spoon a while ago with a few Honda dealerships, that was good as long as the person who had the knowledge was working that day.

Let's hope this is different, then again............. let's see what happens with the CRZ.

Nobody can ever claim Mugen parts are cheap (particularly with the Yen/£ rate the way it is), in fact they are "reassuringly expensive", but Mugen UK RRP will be the same whether it is from a Honda dealer or one of our current independent retailers.

The first of our range of CR-Z parts gets announced in the UK this week also.

I've got to say the Mugen GP Wheels I had were amazing, the price was also, as I think I got them for trade :)

They'd really set the CRZ off that I saw today, just need a Mugen engine in one next.

Been looking for years to replace my 88 Crx(Now owned for 12!) but not really found anything to match and was hoping the CRZ was going to be it. The more I read about it the less I think that is going to be a reality :(

Whilst I think I like the CR-Z for what it is, Honda is not really interested in or more likely cannot make cars for us dinosaurs. Forget about replacing a CRX. Or a VTi, or a 'Teg-R or Prelude or S2000 or ...what's the other one???

This is why I'm buying and hanging on to them. LJKS once wrote to the effect that although (at the time) it was too soon to judge, history might well judge the period of the 1990s to represent a zenith in car design, safety and ecological legislation caused them to become necessarily large and heavy and ponderous. As time has passed, I am becoming more convinced that he was right. As usual.

I haven't driven CR-Z yet (I am supposed to on Monday I think) but everybody I have spoken to who has have expressed their surprise at how responsive it is to the driving mode changes. It's not an out and out flying machine, but to me it looks like a good canvas to start from, and I think we will see some pretty hot ones in years to come (maybe not direct from Honda, but aftermarket tuned). As hybrid cars become more prevalent future tuning will have to be about more than just squeezing more power out of the piston engine, and will include the alternative technologies.
I think it has got to be worth an hour of your time to get to the dealers and have a test drive and see if it suits your criteria for a CRX replacement.

My view is that if you buy one of these you are encouraging Honda to concentrate exclusively on these types of cars rather than develop a diverse brand, which should include an NSX and S2000 replacement.

Hmmm.... So making sure Honda continue to sell main stream equipment and turn a profit to allow investment in more specialised cars is not the way forward then? This idea to me is ludicrous.

Plus the world has changed and there is a back lash towards sports cars perceived to be thirsty and bad for the environment. Things will look a lot different again in five years.

I thought we were talking about the CR-Z?

and turn a profit

I would like to see the numbers

This idea to me is ludicrous.

I feel the same about Honda's current strategy.

sports cars perceived to be thirsty

Compare BMWs progress with emissions etc. Where is Honda's 270bhp engine with 175g emissions?
