So there I was flicking through the PH classified ads and I see this ...

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1616660.htm

I've read that it looks better in the metal. Well I bl***y well hope so because to me it looks like any other stallion wearing car.

And on top of its somewhat lacklustre looks, they want 8 times the price of an NSX ... not for me.

Why are all the reports giving this car such a glowing review ... or is it just to ensure the footballers get their cheque books out?

regards, Paul

I love the look of it. Maybe not the Audi Xmas tree lights too much though.

Is a bloody HSC wannabe.

I guess is Ironic Honda copied ferrari an dhad pininfarina inspiration, now Ferrari copies a defunct Honda.

It looks fantastic and apparently drives fantastically too.

A friend of mine has one on order [RHD] I'm not a big Ferrari fan but quite like the 458. I drove the California last year which shares the same gear box and have to say its the best Paddle shift I have ever driven.

I know a gent in his late 70s he sold his 360 and has one on order. To me it looks too much like the NSX/HSC. Not a bad looking car but laks ferrari looks IMHO.

It quite futuristic looking in some ways, not sure if black suits it? From the front its looks like it got two cat fish whiskers in the front grill/air dam, I suppose its for aero reasons. It seems that every evolution of a Ferrari/Lambo, the price hikes are steeper, not just just £10K, but £20K or more! For example & approx, 360 £110K, 430 £130-140K and now 458 £170/180K list.

I think it is a fantastic looking car - best thing Ferrari have produced in a long while IMHO.

What I've seen of it so far I like it a lot, particularly the looks,.. for what it is :)

The price is pretty heavy, making any interest by me somewhat irrelevant, but you're paying for class defining technology and performance. It's a BIG step on from the F430.

They're calling it the first "digital" supercar with massive driver aids and "feel" dialled out in favour of pure speed and performance which seems to be what the modern supercar consumer is after, the GTR walks a similar path.

This and the new Macca are the future but I think I'll be sticking with the past for sometime yet... probably until they either run out of or ban dino fuel altogether :(

Cheers

Mark

It will be very interesting with the first driven comparison bewteen the 458 and new Macca. I wonder which one might set a new bench mark since both are similar in high tech, size, price & power etc.

........ I wonder which one might set a new bench mark ............

I think it will be first round to the MP4 ... I also think that this will age better than the 458.

Saw (and heard) my first 458 Italia yesterday in Swizerland, also in Black.

Completely stunning and a noise to die for. Not a huge Ferrari fan but this had real road presence.
