Hi all,
There is a black auto for sale on ebay at the moment and it states in the add that although the car is an auto it had the optional factory upgrade to the same bhp as the manual :? anyone know if this is true.Below is the reply i recieved from the seller when i asked if he had a dyno print-out of the bhp because as far as i am aware the auto box can only (safely) handle 252 bhp

"Wrong, the box is bulletproof.Later autos had circa 280 whilst the manuals had in excess of 300
despite `official` figures.I will be glad to furnish a dyno readout at my expense to the lucky buyer..."

P.S here is a link to the ad.

NSX auto boxes are not bulletproof, I think he might have had the wrong info and might be just repeating it.

I spoke to this seller about 3 months ago when it was advertised at £15k - he was very full of himself and had a 'take it or leave it' attitude

he asked what price I had seen it advertised for and proceeded to tell me the ad was incorrect and the price was £16k firm.

I decided not to follow it up at the time, but for all his yap he did know a bit about the car, but he never tried any of this power upgrade talk with me.

he is a dealer who has sold more than one NSX in the past.

I've seen this ad too. I'm currently between cars having recently rolled my beloved S2! I've been visiting this site for a number of months as the desire to own an NSX has been growing and the site has simply re-inforced this desire, thanx guys n gals.
I've contacted the seller ref the satnav to which he repsonded ok, however, I've not had a response to the power upgrade.
Having spent hours reading articles on the site, are the early auto's really a problem or simply less desirable?
I've downloaded your check-list for buying used, great guide!
On a seperate note, any guidance ref insuring the NSX? Have you found any good specialists etc etc?
Finally, has anyone a view on this car over and above the feedback from ctrlaltdelboy?

I will simply say that an auto NSX loses one of the best parts of the NSX. If I was you I will look for a manual, UK car with history. If you really like autos, then fair enough, but you should at least drive both first to feel the difference for yourself.

Advise noted and I shall be looking to drive both boxes before making a decision. There is a lot of reference to buying a UK cars on the site. Are imports a problem for maintenance/sourcing of parts?

If I was going to buy an imported NSX I would check it just as I would a UK car. Some people will look it down when is time for selling it, but other than that I can see no problem if it is mechanically sound. Just make sure you inspected well and if not too familiar get a good inspection on the car.
