4th gear graunches?

My 4th gear had suddenly starting to graunch a little when engaging it above 5-6000rpm. Double declutching doesn't seem to help, although it doesn't do it all the time when I double declutch. It's quite difficult to test consistently on the road as you can imagine!

Manual 5 speed 1993, no PS.

Any idea what it could be?

Have you ever replaced the tansmission fluid? When was the last time your clutch was replaced or inspected, you may need to adjust the the clutch pedal slightly.

Had some gearbox work done 18months ago as a circlip fell off in the gearbox and damaged a couple of gear and countershaft. clutch was inspected then and not replaced as wasn't looking very worn. That was 15kmiles ago.
