Here's a great thread (http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=23&t=772536&mid=64939&i=0&nmt=GT-R low speed bump into van tow bar....&mid=64939)on Pistonheads - directed from the GTR Owners Club forum. Basic story is a new R35 GT-R owner bumped into the towbar of a van in front, at low speed - and set off the "Pedestrian Safety System", which fires the bonnet up to provide more cushioning for someone being run over.

Trouble is the reset of that procedure took his dealer 5 weeks, and cost £11,000...!

yeah, insurance would cover it but if even a minor bump can have such a serious consquence, you could see the cars getting written off in 5 years time if it happened to them then!!

I can see the insurance premiums for insuring one going sky high too.

I could see myself if I had one of those disabling that system really quick. Probably loose a few pounds if you toss that crap out.
