How many need/want a new CF centre console?

I bought one of Dali and was not impressed since he no longer mades the Hi Q.

I remember when Luke got in touch with Bert sp? there were talks about it.

Any one interested if we can find one reasonably price?

I put my name down for one CF:

Resurrecting in case of any more interest....

Bert said he could copy one but this would be in FRP so not sure of the overall quality and fit would be like?

SOS on the other hand said they would get a RHD version injection moulded if there was enough interest. I think there had to be 15-20 people to make it cost effective. Chris said that he'd received interest from people in Japan too. There was a thread somewhere discussing this but I can't find it...

We can't be the only to buggers who want this. I am sure there is enough Crappy CF consoles and butchered OEM ones in circulation.

I'm doing a good job of butchering mine at the mo!! Give me spanners and sockets anyday over filler and patience:no:

Was there any mention of price? I know reading prime that there had been a few issues with warpage of the plastic between the AC unit and the stereos. Possibly more a problem with Cali sun but who knows. The thing is though that there are slight variances between different manufacturers double-din units which means the pre-cut version may not fit so well? I'm assuming your talking about the uncut version?

Another point is trying to retain the ashtray flap opening, if anything just to retain a resemblence of originality and power access if your're not a chimney......

Was thinking personally of an uncut version with an ashtray.

With regard to warping, I presume they chose the wrong plastic first time round?

Anyone live near an injection moulding specialist?

I think the warping was because the plastic strip between the AC control unit and the stereo was just so thin....The fix I believe was to fit a thin metal strip behind the plastic. I think that is what's suppiled now but and re-make would probably have this issue corrected...

I'm planning on doing away with my alcantara console, vent surround and stereo. If anyone would be interested in that please let me know. Its the original honda console that has been modified for a double din stereo and was covered in black alcantara. I'll add pics or can email if needed.

Only changing it as I'm going to order the NSX-R console, vent surround, stereo delete plate and ashtray lid this month.

Might not suit if your looking to retain the ash try, Personally on my car, I just moved the 12v socket into the glove box for charging the phone or if ever needed to use the tyre pump.

Heres a good one for you!

I was pricing up the NA1-NSX-R console parts, but while browsing, I came accross on the parts system, to what I think is the centre console panel in carbon, listed as:

PNL,CTR *TCARBON*
Part Number: 77296-SL0-Z50ZB

Price: £7,767.69!!!!!!

So I spoke to Honda and although the part number comes up on there system and the price is the correct, they cant verify if it is actually the centre console panel or not, as the parts pic wont show.

The part number is basically the same for the rest of the centre consoles it just ends differently.

Hi Sudesh

I did have a email correspondance with Kaz about this 10 months ago (time does fly) and he recommended some companies in Japan that did good aftermarket centre consoles, but I never got around to sorting anything out :(

With the NSX-R one you are thinking of ordering can I ask a) how much? b) will you be leaving your current after market stereo in or out? c) do you think you could fit a single din if you cut a hole in the blanking plate of the NSX-R console?

Paul.

Paul the NSX-R console I'm going for is from the NA1 car as the finish is completely different to OEM and NA2-R and I want it to match in with the other NSX-R bits I have fitted, thats why I also need the Ash tray face and vent surround also so it all matches in. [I'll post a pic below]

The NA2-R console looks more or less the same as the standard facelift car like yours.

All the OEM NSX consoles come with the OEM stereo cut outs, so the NSX-R one is just the same; the blanking plate just clips over the cut outs, so if you cut the blanking plate you still need to cut the console.

I'm completely doing away with the stereo, 95% of my OEM sound system has been removed a few years ago and I was just running a cheap double din head unit and 2 small tweeter for a bit of back ground music, but have decided to remove the rest as to be honest I dont even listen to the radio in the car.

Price has yet to be confirmed.

if someone is searching for such a cf center console,
its also possible to produce a RHD version.

I only would need 1 original RHD center console here.

At what price? Think is one of the key factors.

Is that €1050 ? Wow, seems pricey? I know your products are good quality but that is a lot, especially with current £/€ exchange rates. I have a spare console but I don't (some may??) have the €'s to buy unfortunately!!

Ary,

I have one of the CF consoles from Dali (with a CF NavPod to match) and I agree that the quality isn't that great to be honest. If there was another CF console out there and reasonably priced, I could be tempted too.

The Procar one does indeed look fantastic, but I can't justify that cost.

I think like alot of these aftermarket consoles its getting the thing just perfect. I spoke to a few companies here last year and although making the console wasnt a problem, where it lacked for me was the small fitting like:

Mounts for Gear Shift boot
Mounts for Aspirator Fan
Mounts for Middle Tray [houses 4 buttons behind gear shift]

Also for me to make the console look right, the middle vent surround needs to be change also.

I have no doubt the PROCAR one would be top notch, but if I spent that money on it, I would not dare touch it for any other system other than OEM.

Unless PROCAR can make a blank one with either ashtray/no ashtray

I had one too Jim and ended up butchering the OEM as the Dali one just did not seem to fit in with the car. Just running a budget DVD Double dim ATM, I have an Alpine unit to go in but would rather intal that once.

The mounting points as you say are quite important....that's why the SOS injection moulded one is quite an attractive option.

I think the Procar one must include them coming to the UK to fit it at that price. :)

Ary, so far I have the console in teh car but still in one peice as I am waiting to get a decent stereo for it (at the moment I have a cheap cd player fitted inside the glove box).

It does me for now, but your right I had to make a few mods to it for fitment, and that's not ideal really. from a distance looks "ok" but I can't say I'm over the moon about it.

will post up pics.

PS Ary, this week end I am finally getting that AR1/ Gruppe M exhaust on the car
