sad day for racing.

http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/244377/

interesting point to note is the reason for their exit -

"The NSX-GT has effectively been forced out of the championship, as 2010 regulations demand that all GT500 cars must be front-engined and rear-wheel drive"

I reckon this is a decision that will lead to the demise in manufacturers producing proper mid-engines rwd car in future...

The article then goes on to say the following -

"Honda says it will announce a replacement car for the series in due course, but has not confirmed what this will be. Reports suggest a reworked front-engined version of the NSX or a modified Super 2000 car could be used, although neither would have any direct marketing value"

Another sad indication of the death of true mid engined sports cars.

every more reason, the NSX will be a future collectable.

Interesting to note the 3.5L Mugen developed engine, delivers 500BHP!! - Nearly as much as my GTR :-)

The rules pretty much mean Honda should have made the ASCC.

I had 2 UK models on order. Sold one for a hefty premium and kept the other.

Autocar it seems would agree with you sighting now as a good time to own / purchase an NSX as it is only likely to increase in value of the coming years ... :)

I'd guess there's more weight in your front splitter than that poor under nourished young lass in front of it ...

Autocar doesn't just carry bad news :)

Shame about the Super GT cars, but does this just mean Honda won't be involved, could the teams do it alone? Either way, perhaps the cars will be easier to obtain for private sale... here's hoping.

I think most NSX owners are a bit underwhelmed by this new "NSX", it's just a fat S2000, deemed not worth producing.

Honda V10 with VTEC what else do you need to know!

I have been informed the JGTC rules will mandate a V8, so we are unlikely to see the V10 and its A-VTEC system.

I still look forward to seeing the Acura GT5000, even in riced form, even if it's as relevant to an NSX as it is to an Izzy.

I wonder how much it cost them to make them s2000 mules with v10s.

Where did they get the engines from?

I guess I'm in the minority then. The very last versions seen running round the Ring looked good to me. A viable alternative to an AMVantage.

As for the use of NSX as any successors name, well I personally hope they do find something different. But lets not forget what the letters stand for .....

HSX might work, where the H is for Hybrid or even better Hydrogen?

T'would move the game on while paying hommage to it's inspiration and master :)

Cheers

I'm with a Paul a little on this. If its a GT V10 to compete against the AM V8 and is priced well ie less than than the AM, then there may be hope. If the rumours are true on how quick it is around the Ring, then it should be a proper driver's GT car.

It could never be a spiritual sucessor to our car as its a front engined GT.
