From the following Hypothetical cars:

1991 3.0 Coupe 80k miles
1995 3.0 Targa 70k miles
1997 3.2 Coupe 70k miles
2000 3.2 Coupe 50k miles
2002 3.2 Coupe 40k miles
2005 3.2 Coupe 20k miles

What would you say their current value is?
Also what do you think their value would be in say 4 years time (adding say 20k miles also)?

This based on being standard, manual and in good condition / history.

I'm guessing rarity of colours would sway this a bit as well as other factors but it would be interesting to see people's views on this with many current / past owners of such cars here. I like reading people's opinions :)

Thought I'd post this as someone fairly local to me is thinking of selling their car but also I've always been very interested in the way the nsx holds it's value.

When I did the recent PPC magazine article (July edition), I was asked the question about values.

The numbers I offered based on clean cars, full history were as follows

3.0 Auto pre 94 £12 - £18k
3.0 Man pre 94 £13500 - £20k
3.0 Man 94-97 £20 - £25k
3.2 Man 97-01 £26 - £31k
Facelift Man 3.2 £33 - £42k

As you can see in most cases there is a spread of about £5k which will account ofr the cars condition (bodywork/trim) and any servicing required. As you point out there will also be a variance for the rarer cars with fully documented history.

The truly clean cars rarely come up for sale and when they do are generally sold very quickly at good prices. This in turn is holding the value in these cars.
There has recently been a trend to buying cars that are basically good cars but in need of some TLC. The results when this is done well is that these cars then move up the price range further strenghtening the values.

As for future pricing of the NSX I would be cautoius to offer any indication. Most seem to be weekend cars that cover maybe 5k miles pa. If this is the case and they have continued the maintenance with an annual service, then I wouldn't expect to see large shifts in value.

Hi Paul, Just had to say i agree with your pricing matrix, especially 91 model! That's the figure i have tentitively had in mind for mine, although each time i think about selling something still stops me.... I think GG can be put to one side when looking at current values on most NSX's. Just thouht i would take a fews minutes to say hello whilst enjoying a two week break in the sun! Sad, but as the girls are out sunbathing i just had to keep up with some NSX gossip. Cheers PG

Don't let ths turn into another one of those threads where us owners beat ourselves (and our cars) up and under value them again. It only suits the prospective buyer... sorry Ed ;)

As AR says, an NSX, like anything else, is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it... and of course what the owner is willing to let it go for.

If you want a cheap one you have to buy a car that needs some TLC and money spending on it, or find a desperate seller. The latter does occassionally happen... if you're cruel enough to take advantage of them :(

Glasses guide has no bearing on niche product. It's only really good for late, volume stuff.

When I was considering trading in February the glasses guide was booking at £19K for a 2002 facelift car. However I was getting offers from the trade of up to £29K.
I spoke to glasses guide and asked them to find me a facelift NSX that had sold for less than low 30's in the last 12 months and they responded by increasing the guide price to 26K. Still not what I was looking for, but much better than 19.

I also remember looking to trade my previous NSX (a very clean 96 targa) and was offered £12K for it!! That's what happens when the trade and guide books both take the piss at the same time.

Personally, if I were selling my car and a potential owner quoted trade value, I'd probably hang up.

I cant see anyone daring to offer trade value for a specialist car
in the 80's Ferrari prices were set by THE TIMES newspaper of all things,


I think if you want a nice enough car you'll pay for it,or wait
as i am! but this money is burning a hole in my pocket:laugh:
+ my boss is trying to persuede me to have a 996 C4s cab:)

First time I went seriously looking for an NSX, nothing suitable turned up for >6mths so I ended up buying a Porsche (993 Carrera). Great car and I'd have another tomorrow but as well as and not in place of the NSX.

C4S Cab is, IMHO, the wrong Porsche though, that is a non "drivers" spec. If you decide on a Carrera (nee 911) get a coupe, ditch the 4wd and make sure it's not a Tiptronic.

Still properly FAST even 14yrs on :)

Personally I dislike the wide body treatment on the 993 shell though, the sill/skirts look wrong.

My choice would be a 993RS with the lovely "wasted" sill treatment and coke bottle like silhouette (when viewed from above) of the standard body and lowered stance of the RS suspension. No silly big RSR spec spoilers for me, just the subtle normal RS items :d
