HI

It is my car's first birthday in August and I have to part with more cash to keep the fat insurance man happy. Currenly I have three years no claims and am paying £1500 a year for 5000 miles. Alright the car is kept in London, but do you reckon I can beat this?

Advice appreciated!

Thanks

Will

I have my NSX '96 £26,000 3,000 miles a year insured on a modern classic policy as it's a second car and not in everyday use. It is garaged and the policy was £730 for this year, it'll go down next year as the car itself falls into an older i.e. over 9years old, instead of less than 9years.

A possible benefit to consider is that (now I've done a track day) AON will insure me at other track days for a small premium, i.e. around £30. At the track my excess goes to 10% of the cars insured value and is only covered for damage up to a total of 50% of the cars value.

Individual cover for a track day can cost in excess of £150. I know as for my first outting on the track it cost me £157, but at least I didn't have to worry about any minor trips off the tarmac.

When I was using the car everyday when I first brought it I went through a specialist grey import insurance broker, underwritten by Red Star Equity, and the years policy (public road overnight parking) was less than £900.

Just dug out some papers and can let you know that AON can be called on 01384 552700, e-mailed on classiccarsdudley@aon.co.uk, or their website visted at www.aon-classiccar.com

thanks very much for your info, I am off to ring those people now and hopefully save some money.

Much appreciated.

Hopefully there will be a meet one of these days and I can put a face (and not just a car) to a name!
