I'm sure this has been covered before but does anyone know just how many NSX were bought (UK spec) in the UK over the years?

In the region of 445 I think. Simonprelude would know.

Cheers,

James.

I thought around the 500 mark. I wonder how many are still "alive"?

Quite a few were badly damaged and are back on the road. Arys old car comes to mind. LBB also seems a popular colour to crash.

James.

Quite a few unique cars out there, I am sick of the amount of crashed NSX that bastards fix and then claim HPI clear or light damaged.

Perhaps we should start a registry of known bumped NSX!

Read my post again please, I am only calling bastard those who fix them and them falsely advertise the cars as clean examples.

One thing is to fix it for yourself, another is to try to sodomise a fellow NSX fan by selling a bumped car as HPI clear.

I agree, sellers need to be honest about the cars they are moving on. I've seen some pretty shocking examples lately supposedly with no previous damage; one was an S2000 that had a different shade of paint on every panel and the other was a GT3 which had been a total loss but still showed up clean on the HPI. On the positive side I see there is currently an NSX for sale declaring it was previously damaged.

I have a number of reservation about having a thread with a list of all the damaged repaired cars; Anyone looking for an NSX may view this as a list of cars to avoid rather than a list of potentially well repaired cars with no further issues. It may also lump all the good and bad together and may hurt resale of all NSX's.

However, despite the previous debate about discussing cars for sale on AT or E-bay, I think it's fair and right to highlight cars advertised as hpi clear with no previous damage which we know to have a history. There's nothing worse than buying a car then clicking onto the forum to find the previous owner put it under a bus!

Cheers,

James.

Just out of interest, if you have fixed Ben's old LBBP why and how were you offering all of the parts from it? I think Simon NSXGB bought the wheels so am I being thick (very possible) in not understanding this?

Matt, as far as I am aware a second damaged car was bought to enable the repair of the first LBBP that was bought.

The parts is coming from other car. We had this car for years and now is taken apart. To break apart Ben's car would be a big mistake. So now its ready for full re-spray.
I do agree you have to be honest about these cars then you selling it, but all these insurance categories for me personally don't mean anything as long as the car re-paired in proper way.
Why and how insurance companies doing quick write-offs for NSX cars, because we all probably know the prices for parts in Honda dealers. So its much cheaper at most times just put a category D,C or B and re-pay the money for owner. There is nobody probably could explain how they choose the category for that particular car. In past i have seen nearly full fire damaged ones with category D and cars with few scratches around with category B.

Category A: Scrap only (i.e. with few or no economically salvageable parts and which is of value only for scrap metal
Category B: Break for spare parts if economically viable (excluding any residual scrap value)
Category C: Repairable total loss vehicles where repair costs including VAT exceed the vehicle's pre-accident value
Category D: Repairable total loss vehicle where repair costs including VAT do not exceed the vehicle's pre-accident value

I know what you're trying to say, but that doesn't add up.

Cheers,

James.

My next door neighbour's brother was (up until recently) the General Manager of Honda UK.

I asked him the same question once and he very kindly provided me with the details of the number of NSXs sold each year.

The grand total was 491.

If you're able to provide a full breakdown that would be very useful... we can compare oit to the NSX database held on the site to see just how many we know about.

Thanks,

This sounds about right as the list below is only upto 2002, as this is when I started to look into NSX ownership.

Year Sales
1991 125
1992 41
1993 47
1994 19
1995 55
1996 38
1997 35
1998 10
1999 17
2000 11
2001 8
2002 23 (sold so far)
2003 ?
2004 ?
2005 ? (But we know they sold at least 12)

Is that the one that was being sold in Scotland a couple of years ago? Maybe it was light grey or dark silver?

The Brian Long book has a table of sales figures at the back, and it says European sales for 2002 were 26 and 2003 were 21. The Honda press site had sales figures by car up until 2004...
5223
... says across Europe, 2002 was 26 and 2003 was 22.

I suppose it's feasible that the UK would get the lion's share, with only 3 cars in 2002 and 2 in 2003, going anywhere else in Europe..?
