hi guys, im interested in a 1996 NSX targa but want an idea of a valuation as i though this would be the perfect place to ask.

its done 80k with fhsh and had lots spent ie new tyres & service last month ect, it has tan interior with either black or dark purple paintwork (cant remember exactly)

the owner is asking around 17k and i wanted to know if that was a correct estimate

i know its hard without seeing it as these cars are quite rare i guess its not the easiest car to price

thats guys :)

It all depends whether it is a manual or a auto.
If manual then itf car in good condition then that will be a good price.
If auto.....then it is only a normal/not bargain price.

Hi there,

I'd say it sounds a bit cheap. Is it manual or auto?

I believe there was a car this colour written of a while back....going by what I've read on here. This may not be the same car but there are only a handful of Midnight Blue NSX's in the UK. Is it standard looking or different wheels and side skirts etc. Perhaps the reg might jog a few members memories....

Where is it advertised?

Hope this helps a bit?

Edit: The one I was thinking about is 1m01s into this clip http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=maBucbeNX3s&NR=1

Also used to be registered as STV151 if that rings any bells.

I almost bought that car in December 2007!! It was going for around the same money back then too. However the owner back then wasnt very forth coming with the info and photos, and as I'm based in N.I, I like to get as much detail as possible before making a journey. Anyway glad I didnt buy it and purchased a manual NSX instead.

As Simon said, had STV number on it.

I think what Simon was refering too is that the car at one point had the the "STV" reg which is more than likely a private number that has since, been transfered to another car. When the private reg was transfered that NSX went back to the N reg you mentioned.

Since its a Targa & in a rare desirable colour, the price seem alright & its got FHSH! Part price are alot cheaper from the States even with the current exchange rate at 1.4-1.5 to a Pound. Some Honda garages will fit parts supplied by you as long its geniune. Theres also some non Honda suppliers in the UK & Europe too ( see vendor section here). HTH Good luck in your hunt.

Regarding parts prices.....not cheap, its not a cheap car of course but some prices are stupid especially from Honda. Most service parts (not filters etc) are only available from Honda ABS sensor £190, brake discs £290 each (but lots of better alternatives elsewhere).

Service costs range from A service for about £100 (specialist not dealer) to a cambelt change and service which is about £1000-1500 but essential even on low mileage cars.

If you plan ahead with your selected garage you could combine the cambelt (engine out) with valve clearance checks, exhaust manafold change if you desire to do it etc. Maybe clutch at the same time.

Filters and oil are no more expensive than any other car, but servicing is evern 6 months or 6000 miles.

Exhausts last for ever which is a pity cos the standard one although looking good is too quiet for my tastes so I changed it for an after market one but the original is still in very good condition despite being 14 years old.

Have a look through the common problem thread, you will see that a well maintained car is not a problematic purchase at all, they are ultimately as reliable as you can get!

Good luck, you wont be dissapointed in a good car!!!

This is not quite right.A cambelt service will come in a couple of hundred pounds under a grand if you shop around a bit,and it's definately not engine out for it.

Okay I stand corrected......the guys at the Honda specialist suggested it was easier and they would not chare more to remove the engine if they had to do a timeing belt and valve clearances at the same time. (Maybe that was inluenced by my discussion of fitting tubular manafolds too)?

Going through the service history I have the combined cost of timing belt and service costs have been over a grand though?
