Hi Guys

This is my first post on this forum, im onto my 3rd nsx now and want to climb up the nsx market . I have an nsx which has been written off by insurers and I decided to buy it back from them .I would like to buy a another one of the same shape but a much later model with low milage and am trying to recoup as much money from this one as possible would it be worth more in parts or as a whole advice would be much appreciated. Its advertised on the following classifieds ad.
http://www.pistonheads.com/SALES/848346.htm

Ive had lots of offers for part exs but nothing really compares to an nsx and most people want to trade in micra or corsas .

Any help would be appreciated as I am on foot petrol and have to look at 2 very nice nsxs in slough on my walks of lonely contemplation.:(

Hi there, perhaps you could try selling the lights to recoup a couple of hundred quids and go with an 02 conversion?

Budget about £ 5K just for the front bits. It will be lighter than pop ups, easier to do and update the car's looks.

Why is it a cat C is this the second crashed for that car?

The damage does not look too bad.

Good luck,

AR

AR, don't you have a front bumper for sale....in Sebring Silver?

Arfan, may I suggest a brake upgrade on your next NSX....:)

You may get more parting it out but will take a long time. As AR says it does not look that bad - is it only bumper damage?
Get some proper quotes, not inflated insurance ones, then decide. I would guess that a decently repaired Cat C would be worth £7-8k ish although others with more experience than me may offer a better guesstimate....

I only got the bonnet and rear bumper for sale.

I think it will be cheaper just to go 02 plus.

HI.

I had a look at the photos and I didn't see that much damage at all, ( Apart from what was missing) and I don;t think tat it would cost to much to repair.

As Ary said, maybe go for the 02 conversion??

Couldn't get the link to Piston Heads to work so I couldn't get a look.
Might be interested in some bits after a look.
As everyone said before, it might be better to go for an '02 conversion.
If not give Prime a look as well. There are some bonnets and bumpers for sale there right now.
Have you gotten hold of Dirk or Detlef?
They might be able to help you with repair parts.

Cheers

The damage does look very minor. There will be many more parts available from pre 02 cars so it should be a fair bit cheaper to repair it using these. Also, unless you used the sill covers and rear valence from an 02 plus it might not look quite right.

I'm no body repair specialist, but I'm sure you could get second hand bumper/rest of the bits for reasonable money? I'm surprised by the fact the insurers have written it off! Did you get a repair quote? If so, what was the estimate?

Maybe the left side bumper mount (front of frame) is a bit bent? Or it's the angle of the photo.

It's not going to take much to write off an old NSX these days. My bumper repair & new front wing cost £5000 to fix.

I like that car.

OH it loooks mine!

With regards to the repair of the NSX IIRC Sicence of Speed do a whole 02 conversion that you buy off the shelf. I would go down this route. see link

You have to remember that if the cost of repair is more than a certain percentage of the vaue that you insured the car for, the insurance will write it off. I can't rem the percentage, but it doesn't take a lot.

The only problem with sourcing the parts from SOS is that the lights are going to be for a left hand drive car, unless of course they can get them for RHD.

It may look ok in the nice photo in the ad, however, I've seen this in the err, mainly plastic rather than usual aluminium and its not that pretty. At least now the doors open the right way

Well it will do when you get the bonnet installed ...IMO the 02's are crying out for the NSX-R bonnet! Come on Paul, its only money and its a reversible mod anyway!
