Just looking through the latest list of auction registrations that the DVLA are offering - http://www.dvlaregistrations.co.uk/home/en/Auction/catalogue/ - on 29th Jan, and they've got 4 NSX listed at a £600 reserve.

Of course, there are still thousands of L NNN NSX type registrations out there on www.dvla-som.co.uk (http://www.dvla-som.co.uk) ...

Could be a good bargain for someone - worth much more than something like D444 NSX but not worth changing from what I have (S5). If I was looking from scratch I'd definitely have a go at this!

Good call on the nsx plate , it may have a £600.00 reserve but probably won`t go for silly money as how many people do you know who`s last name begins with x , its very car specific !!
Think i paid about £1k plus vat for nsx 60 which i thought was pretty good value. With the `massive` recent cut in vat , what more incentives do you need ?????

Happy bidding

4 NSX in chinese interpretation means 'dead' NSX....

Don't think it will be too popular for the superstitious.

Yeah I'm with you on that one, If I never had an NSX plate I would probably go for that one.

Q. Are there any unlucky numbers in Japan?
A. The Japanese don't like the number 4 and 9 because of their pronunciation. Four is pronounced "shi" which is the same pronunciation as death. Nine is pronounced "ku" which has the same pronunciation as agony or torture.
There are many hospitals that don't have these numbers as the room number or even the floor number. The Japanese also dislike Friday the13th, though many of them are not Christians. There are no seats with numbers 4, 9 and 13 on passenger planes of the All Nippon Airways.

That seems like bargain reserve price! Would be interesting to see what it would go for as its car specific & with the economic downturn. It Wouldn't bother me if theres a 4 in it, even though I have exotic roots! Also not bothered if theres a 8 as not that superstitious. :)

Having been to these auctions in the past I would be surprised if this only fetches £600. Definately worth a punt superstition or not.

Er....8 is good and means 'wealth'..so I am sure you wouldn't mind.

SS, I wouldn't mind ;) but if I had to have a NSX reg, then I just don't want to pay silly money for the previledge of having a 8 in it! :)

According to http://www.dvlaregistrations.co.uk/home/en/Auction/last it went for £1100, presumably net of VAT and auction fees etc.

Interestingly, on http://www.dvlaregistrations.co.uk/home/en/Search/auction?searched=yes&plate=nsx&start=10, someone paid £17,500 for NSX 1, and some numpty shelled out £2100 on NSX 911...

Yes, but that price of £17500 was achieved way back in 1996. Interestingly it is currently listed on www.newreg.com at £29995 so someone's in for a nice fat profit - assuming anyone with an NSX is stupid enough to stump up that sort of money!

Blimey. That would be a healthy margin - I suppose it's one of those plates that's always for sale at the right price. I remember seeing DAL70N up for auction a few years ago - my surname is Dalton so it would be kind of apt - it sold for £6200 in Sept 04, and was straight on NewReg for £24,995

It stayed there for ages (a good couple of years) but doesn't appear there any more. I guess either it sold, or the seller decided to not part with it after all.

I find the whole "vanity number plate" thing rather vulgar anyway ;)

I got two that came with NSX. One is t1 NSX but nobody is interested, and the reg website wanted to pay me half of the valuation! I'll rather just keep it.

Wasn't NSX1 originally on a black turboed car that had alot of performance bits like Mugen/HKS. Got the article somewhere, think it was Banzai from 3/4 years ago?

Did you see Piers Morgan on Dubai this week, where the new Man City owner spent 2 mill dollars for number 73 I think? He had a Versace designed Lambo Murchie convertible costing a cool 600K dollars more than a standard one! Stupid waste of money!

NSX1 was originally on Dale's Silver Mugen esque car that was abused in the Reading area by the next owner.
I was offered the plate by Dale when the car was for sale at a vrey good price but passed.

It is now on a Long Beach Blue and has been for around 6 months.

Plate made £500 over reserve.

I reckon we can expect to see it advertised for a couple of grand over that. Best of luck!
