Just watched fifth gear on channel 5. They were featuring the 'V-Max' club which apparently meets to race 200mph+ cars (mostly modified).

There were a large number of Ruf 911's and Ferraris.... and also a red NSX. I didn't see the reg number.

I've heard that there's a turbocharged NSX in the UK - not supercharged. Apparently the owner, recently retired, spent £6k per corner on the brakes alone at Two Mills Honda. I was wondering if it's the same car. Does anyone have any info on what's been done to it?

I recall reading something along these lines too, ages ago in a car mag... if I remember correct too the car wore NSX 1 licence plate though I think that moved to another car...

found it, tdi did it:

and I quote from TDI. watch it they are litigious as hell so I fully credit TDI with the write up and the excellent job done

Probably the most well-known, and certainly the most ambitious project undertaken by us (at time of writing-May 2004). Being asked to upgrade what is already an absolutely amazing vehicle in standard form required us to pull out all the stops and start afresh with a blank sheet of paper. Turbocharging was the only way foward for the power levels required and unfortunately the original high compression, relatively highly strung engine needed re-working from the ground up to accomodate. In addition, no-one had turbocharged an NSX before so the whole manifold/turbo/external wastegate system had to be made from scratch. Not easy in the confines of an NSX engine bay. Eventually the car came together and with an HKS ball bearing turbo, HKS fuel and boost control systems and custom made fuel rails for the extra 6 injectors a 'spirited' ride was on the cards. Add the Mugen body panels, Brembo front and rear brakes, Kinesis wheels and HKS Hiper Damper suspension among a whole host of other parts and we simply wouldn't dare to print what this car cost to put together! The owner was a big fan of trackdays and the car was regularly seen being hustled around Castle Coombe and other circuits but it has now been sold and is currently residing in London. The car has been seen in various magazines and the independant reports were every bit as favourable as we could hope for.

I also credit TDI as owning copyright on all pictures.

Don't know about the tuned NSX, but can confirm the NSX on 5th gear was L6NSX. Oh yes, thats my car! :D I was there as photographer for the event, had a few good runs in the NSX - 158mph was the fastest I saw before running out of runway. Destroyed just about everything round the bends though  Superb day out, the list of cars attending is mouthwatering.

Thanks Glen,

Very interesting. Have you got any torque, BHP or performance figures?.. It'd be interesting to know how much one can safely wring out of an NSX engine.

there was a discussion on this over 2 years ago here (http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=105351) which you may find relevant/interesting

the plate NSX1 which Derek sold onto Dale along with some mugen body parts ended up on Dale's silver 1995 as seen here

Dale's NSX together with plate have since been sold to a guy in Reading named Amjad

prior to selling to Amjad, Dale offered the plate to me for £5k which I declined.

since then the plate has appeared for sale at a snip of £29,995 see here (http://www.newreg.co.uk/home/search/search_results.html?registration=nsx&find+your+New+Reg.x=66&find+your+New+Reg.y=16&find+your+New+Reg=find+your+New+Reg&sortby=initials&categorize=on&include=search&search_type=new&type_of_reg=Any&arrived_from=New+Search&has_flash=&screen_res=)

Was going to say I'd seen the Plate arround Reading a fair bit, usually heading the other way (about 5 times in one day last summer).
