After lunch, the promo ladies came by and hung out on the stand for a while, gathering the inevitable attention.

In fact, I do seem to recall each of them being ferried away in an NSX ... wonder what happened to them ;-)

top marks to Silver Surfer for being fast, smooth and consistent on track...

For me, the surprise of the day on the NSX stand was the lovely pearl white... who's is that?
3700

And finally, walking round the back to Bobbies we passed a load of strange displays, from the Nissan Primera Owners Club (with stock 10 year old Primeras being lovingly buffed) to this, surely the least appropriate use of a Big Phat Zorst...

I thInk the stand count peaked at 46. There was also a clean early Black spotted in the car park, so, 47?
Unfortunately, in their wisdom, the organisers had chosen to give us a smaller pitch than last year, despite Matt and the boys advising we were aiming for a larger turn out!

Thanks Penny;-)

Couldn't believe Saturdays weather. The forecast was shocking so I decided not to clean the car after Friday. Woke up Saturday morning to rain; so far so bad. Got to Bridgwater, met up with two clean looking cars and no more rain?! Anyway, really glad the weather held out. ****ed I didn't clean the car!

Well thanks for the terrible BBQ picture, didn't even know anyone took any.

(This is ref the 4 on track shots - Mutley, Me, Papa & NSX2000)

Given that these four shots are almost identical position on track, there appears to be a marked difference in ride height. In particular, the 2 facelift cars sem to have a lot more air in the arches?? Is there an undulation at that point of the track (unlikely) .... its way before the braking zone so can discount this ..... is it an illusion due to color?

ANy ideas gents??

Paul, the wife and I have studied these photos as well, at first glance it does look like that James and I are getting more "air" but I think it has more to do with it being an illusion due to the different shape 02+ cars or due to the fact that we still have foot flat to the floor and you and Jim are changing gear?

If you look at some of the track shots, I notice that Rob's Targa is rolling into the back arch more noticably (he's a psycho!!), I have a similar picture from last year where my car was doing exactly the same. As the targa's are slightly softer sprung, that could account for the difference.
Additonally, the facelift coupes did get a slightly stiffer front end.

Only speculating.

Nice to see the pics of the cars at Castle Combe. I went to Japfest there afew years back, but go to Rallyday there every year in my other car. -Was anybody going for fast laps round the track? -If so, does anybody know what sort of times were the NSX's getting?

Will try and come again this year - if you chaps can fit another on the stand?

Papalazarou
08-01-2011, 10:02 AM
Not sure who's organising the club for Japfest this year. I'd volunteer, but obviously don't have a car:-(
We've done a few track sessions in the past, but they often work out expensive because of the low turnout and the need for an NSX only session.
I'm not sure about track times. Perhaps high teens to low 1.20's for a well driven standard car. The OE brakes tend to fade a bit.

Cheers,

James.
