hi all,

did a search but could find any posts on this - i guess most of you guys know about it already

2005 JDM Honda NSX-R GT

The changes to the JGTC Honda NSX race cars were apparently so fundamental that Honda had to make a certain number of road legal vehicles to comply with the JGTC rules.

Only five NSX-R GT models will be made (production will start in August) and all of them had already been sold.

cost £250,000 each.

they have discussed this car quite a bit on nsxprime.
by all accounts,it is a piece of sh!t(for the money) it's basically an NSX-R with a bodykit.as much as i love the NSX i would not consider paying 250 grand for a car that develops somewhere in the region of 300bhp.
apparently though it was never meant to appeal to the public,as you say, they were just made so that Honda can make some changes to their race cars.
still, can't help feeling that it was a missed opertunity for Honda to have dropped a supprise on everyone.

I haven't read the related thread on Prime yet but if there is any truth in the price tag then there HAS to be more to it mechanically than just a bodykit and roof scoop! Maybe a detuned JGTC spec? (wishfull thinking...) Why would Honda just slap a bodykit on it an hike the price up by 400%?? It just doesn't make any sense to me.

NSX-R nutters there may be in Japan but they would have to be filthy rich crack heads to spend that amt of $$ on a std NSX-R (performance wise). Hell, it wouldn't even be worth that much if the whole car is made of CF!

well if what i read on prime is true, then the cars went to upper management within Honda,So the price could well be a farce.they were literally just produced so that Honda could make changes to the race cars.
my guess is they wanted to make them i little longer.look at the rear bumper,it seems to come out futher than a normal one would,as does the Jimmy Hill front splitter.just my guess mind :?
