Chaps,

Can anyone recommend an independent specialist or individual technican trained and properly equipped to work on our NSX's?

My closest NSX centre is Trident (Weybridge) which is a little awkward for me. Cloverleaf in Ascot are the closest Honda dealer to me and service my S2000 but don't want to take the NSX on. Fleet Honda although not NSX approved will work on the car and claim to look after several NSX's. Chiswick Honda are a bit further away an more awkward to get to than Trident. Is there such a thing as an independant specialist in the South?

I was spoilt for choice with Porsche specialists for my previous Carrera (993) and prefered the sevice provided by these guys, as they were more passionate and caring, as well as cheaper (hourly rate) for the older cars than the Porsche main dealers who were more interested in the new stuff.

Cheers

Mark

Been down this route myself Mark, basically there are no independant "specialists" as such - the car is just too rare for anyone to make a living out of working on.
Balanced against that I've found that my local Honda dealer is perfectly adequate for routine servicing and actually MOT'd my car last year. They are reasonably priced and supply a decent loan car too.
Should my car need any specialist NSX work it would go to Chiswick, but (touch wood) that won't be necessary for a while. I'd be happy to go to any main dealer, especially if they have someone who has previously worked on an NSX or can prove they have other NSX's on their books.
The Honda stamps probably don't do any harm come resale time too.

Thanks Trackdemon, I suspected as much.

Chiswick is pain logistically for me to dovetail with work so Trident (Weybridge) may well get the work. They've quoted £455 inc of vat (4hrs + parts) to do the cambelt which I was pleasently surprised at.

Are you the chap with the S2000 as well? Same club as me 8) , my wife drives a Silver S2000. We have an old 5 Series Touring for the boring and donkey work.

Cheers

Yeomans have an NSX specialist as their head mechanic, they often have NSXs in for work and did a great job with a long standing problem that had many others scratching their heads.

Looks like Trident Weybridge will get my cambelt job too then.

I've used Marshall Honda at Reading before for a couple of jobs, including new clutch, price in here http://nsxcb.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=286

That's silly, it's almost like they're saying they couldn't change a clutch, 'cos it's almost the same process.

Speaking of which does the 'box include the clutch?

....and where you get it from, I'd love to put a 6 speed in my car, even a used one. There's only so many times the 'box will stand up to track use, and I'd rather put in a 6 speed than fix the current one.

I have only ever used one dealer, Norton Way. They also run the Chiswick dealership too. Except the experienced NSX guys are still at Norton Way.

my current 'box is in the snap ring range and it has gone once before with the last owner, while the damage was repaired the cause of the problem(the casing)was not replaced.the third gear syncro has gone on my car as well,so i figure i may as well get a nice shiny new box and not worry about anything else going wrong.
Kev,i would get the box from SWR. they retail them at $4699,so i figure all in, including shipping and customs, i would be looking at about £3500 for the 'box.i would also renew the clutch at the same time so i was thinking of the exeddy single plate.
the 'box is a brand new OE item which would be shipped direct from the Honda warehouse in california.
