Whilst having a look round the web for various NSX bits and bobs I happened upon several adverts for an air induction kit filter for the NSX.

Has anyone here ever tried one of these items and if so, are they worth an investment for a marginal improvement to response and power, as claimed in the advert, or are they not worth the effort and money?

Here's a link to one of them on e-bayhttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=36680&item=7946040053&rd=1&tc=photo

Air filters have not shown to produce a noticeable improvement in power, by a dyno test that you can find on Daliracing.com. Some filters have had reports of letting some dirt through as well.

However the Mugen chips that are in the For Sale section do make a difference. Track tested by both myself and Mo, we can now keep up or overtake cars we couldn't before.

here is the comparison (http://www.daliracing.com/v666-5/info/intake_dyno/intakedyno.cfm) Kev mentioned as performed by Dali.

best gain was 2.5HP with equal torque - most variants in the test delivered worse HP or torque (or both) compared to OEM

here is another comparison of 4 different filters (http://www.daliracing.com/v666-5/info/induction_kit/induction_kit.cfm) this time comparing filtration primarily but also power gains - each of the 4 delivered similar gains of 13-14HP on the Supra that they were compared on.

I used to have the monster filter (winner of test No. 1 above) on my NSX, but I switched to the Apexi (winner of test No. 2 above) - can't speak for power gains, but the Apexi is much quieter
