got my new exedy performance clutch fitted over the weekend. the difference between it and the honda one is like night and day.
gear slection is fantastic, and changes can be made in an instant. can drop the clutch and wheelspin in any gear (so far i've tried 1st-4th so 5th is a maybe), only trouble is in heavy traffic as it can't really be ridden in 1st (this will improve slightly over time). much much better than the factory one, for less money. i'm happy :D

It looks like you got the new single plate one? Rather than the dual disc one, which has been a bit notorious.

Did you get it in the UK or from overseas?

I got it from Amber Performance (http://www.amber-performance.co.uk) who imported it from Japan for me.

It is the single, they told me the dual disc was not very suitable for road use.

I had the twin plate Exedy - took it out again after just 2000 miles, I can personally testify that it was a nightmare for road use - shame I was practically 100% road driving at the time - would have been nice to have got some proper track experience with it in hindsight

Thanks for the post. Very interesting. Could you reveal the price you paid for the parts and what you paid for fitting? Most of us who trackday know it's only a matter of time before we'll need a replacement. Cheers, David.

parts cost c£1000 for the clutch kit + c£90 for the bearing from Honda.

Fitting was cheap as my mate did it. Can't disclose how much sorry!

i should add that he is an experienced mechanic, he works on skylines at nissan and has rebuilt the engine on his rx7. he commented that a ramp would've been much easier.

Interesting trail....

My 96N Manual is a bit fierce on the clutch already. 95% road use, so i'm not sure wheelspin in every gear is what i'm looking for.

Is it normal for NSX clutch to 'snatch', particularly in 1st and 2nd ?
I'm struggling to get clean pull away. As far as i know, it's a standard OEM clutch, last replaced 17k ago, in March 03.

When giving it even a slight bit of welly away from standstill, i also get a sort of chirpy noise, a bit like something's slipping.... :?

Any ideas - is there any adjustment in clutch travel ?

it has calmed down a bit. and also i have got more used to it. wheelspin in every gear is not necessary, but you could do it if you tried. also my tyres were balding when i wrote that so i'd suggest 1st and 2nd, and maybe 3rd are the only gears you could do that in. - anyway i'm not trying, my last rear boots lasted 5000 miles :shock:
i found oem clutch quite docile, maybe yours it not standard. in any case the exedy is not good for daily driving if you creep along in traffic regularly. if you do more open road driving its fine
