a bit of ring sting - a bit of wallet sting!!

I hope you get it sorted cheaply!

Good pics

mate tell me about it. £900 for the barrier is never a good start..

but as luck would have it i have found a bumper, light and rear quarter panel all for £650- which in my book is bloody good.

Hey hatzenbach in the rain is never recommended ;)

and at least i could still lap, few poor sods in a clio rolled the 1st day !

Sorry to see about your bit of "ring sting", great shot "in the karussell" though, looks really well.

yes really happy about that shot. A good find on the web as were most of the 'action' shots

Dan, you got away very lightly mate!

I dread to think what that lot would have cost you from Honda. I know front wings are 6k or summin so maybe you would have been looking at over that for all 3 bits!!

Nice photos... looks like an experience, even if it was a bit costly...!

Sorry to see that, I know how bad it feels, my brother-in-law had a very gentle disagreement with the Armco at Adenauer Forst Easter time. Unfortunately he was driving my Atom at the time. The Armco was undamaged and we drove away but it still did over 5k of damage and took 2 months to get the car fixed. In fact it's back off the road again with gear change issues that appear to be a consequence of the major front end strip and rebuild :(

Sorry to hear that Richie, sounds liek a pain in the ***

Bad enough if you smash your own P&J, your bro in law must feel pretty crap but not as bad as you.

I think the ATOM may even be a more difficuult atsk to get fixed than the NSX:eek:

hmm thats interesting adenauer forst.. usually slow stuff or at worst straight onto the grass first corner..

which armco did he hit? on the right right back from the grass or after the right hand corner on the left?

DTM,

Sorry to see the rear ender but glad you found a cheaper fix!!

Did you need the use of the TCS as discussed in a previous thread and how was your impression with the 'X' compared with your previous ITR??

Curious

One of the reasons I went to the Atom was that I couldn't bear the thought of dinking any of those beautifully crafted (and expensive) aluminium panels, and not because of the cost. I took my NSX to the ring once but wouldn't have dreamed of letting anyone else near the steering wheel but truthfully anyone can drive an NSX fairly quick whereas the Atom really demands a certain level of skill and awareness to have been reached before you should attempt to drive one on the road, let alone in anger.

Dan, If you take Ad Forst as just the chicane (longish tightening left followed by sharp opening right) impact was pretty much on the left side of the track where you are pointing when you get around the first bend but set a bit back towards foxhole. Right front tyre to armco, car effectively pointing backwards.

My view/suspicion as a passenger: lift-off oversteer went uncorrected, car mounted inside kerb (quite high there) all 4 wheels off ground and catapaulted towards armco.

I have seen many cars that have come to grief on the exit but not going in!

Did you buy the rear bumper off ebay just yesterday?

I was going to bid on that, I think a Civic owner got it according to the username.

In any case, I only want the bumper to make/mold some CF ones from.

So, can I have your broken one then?

Front wings are 1200 by the way.

6k will get you a Ferrari 550 one.

Front wings are 1200 by the way.

I paid about half that for one, from MJ's local Acura dealer. I did have to get the bodyshop to fill in the hole for the daft yank side reflector though.

TCS was always on..in the wet when i span it never came in FFS!

In the dry at odd point it didnt help, cutting power on ttighter corners, i learnt to be smoother and it stayed off. but next time ill turn it off and see how i feel, the karussell it comes in a bit cos of the bumpyness, more drive out is req etc!

Compared to the ITR- hmm.

I was quicker in the DC5 but i was balls out..like really balls out 8.30 stuff. The grunt is better of course, the ring being steep in places killed the ITR dead but last year was so hot power was down anyway. I knew the car inside out so maybe need to learn the X more to make a better comaprison. X is softer tho so important to get it settled befor committing to a corner hard and on power etc..

Same great feeling tho.. long corners hard on the gas and all 4 are squidging out a bit but u keep it nailed as it just feels right :)

Yes i bought the bumper off ebay, red one. course u can have my old one pal. not sure when but its yours, to be honest not much wrong with it except for one corner..

Very sorry about the rear sting :( I hope its not too serious mate & maybe we could have a mini meet when its sorted out & hopefully after I get my new stoppers ! :)

OK so yeah, I'll take yr old bumper then. Whenever you get round to fitting it, I'm in no hurry.

Sorry to see the damage, but hope you had a good time. You have given me a few nerves for the weekend now!

Did you go to Honda R&D? Don't suppose anyone knows where that is?

Nice pics Dan, you must have been driving reasonably quickly as your pal in the Thimbles jumper is grabbing the inside door handle! ;) What peak speed you reached or were you concentrating on the view ahead :cantlook:
