I just sold my 97 NSX to Ray, a nice guy from Wallasey. After telling him that the car had been ultra-reliable during my 2+ year ownership (I am buying a boat and only one toy allowed by the boss)

On his journey home the engine cut-out while on cruise control at 70+ yet later it just started again at the roadside. It failed twice more but was shown that in "failed" mode it would tick-over if the starter solenoid was held "in" on the key. but failed when the key was released.

Anyone with any similar experience? Sounds like a ballast resistor to me, but I don't have the car anymore - gulp! All prognostications and suggestions welcome. - I know - I should not have sold the car! but any other observations anyone?

Suggest checking the solder connections in the main relay, a common age related fault.
Can't be ballast resistor as none of the six coils are so equipped.
