Interesting, all the brochures state it's Targa only for the Midnight purple.
But Honda in Japan seem to be very accomodating for one offs.
Shame Honda UK aren't as obliging, there are many CTR owners who wanted a white one.

Yeah I read the same about the Midnight Purple and I remember doing track event with Honda UK, were they first showed us the NSX 3.2 6 Speed Targa and it was a Purple with red interior. Reg was P26 OLU. Infact I have a pic of myseld racing the Honda UK car around a track. Must get it uploaded.

You sure it wasn't Dark Grey ??

P26 is definately a Magnum Grey Pearl Targa with Blood Red interior
P27 is an Imola Orange Pearl Coupe with Black interior

Sudesh

It was definately purple at that time, as I have a photo of the car! Honda UK may have changed the car few times down the line, as the purple P26 OLU was on a 1995/96 Car.
HPI now suggests that P26 OLU is registered to a:

HONDA NSX
Fuel: Petrol
Transmission: Manual
Colour: Black
Engine Size (cc): 3179
Doors: 2 DOOR CONVERTIBLE
Number of Previous Owners: 2
Model: NSX
Model Year (YYYY): 1997
Manufacturer: Honda
Date of 1st Registration (DD/MM/YYYY): 02/05/1997
Type: Standard Car

NSX 3.2 6 Speed Targa and it was a Purple with red interior. Reg was P26 OLU

P26 is owned by CMUK here and definately MAgnum grey.

I thought the purple (nice color) came black or tan trim only??

Sudesh, 3.2 in rare color, have you put in a bid yet?

regards, Paul

The HPI record must be wrong then as they have P26 registered as a BLACK NSX! I'll dig out the old photo tomorrow, I could be wrong but for some reason I remember the P26 as being Purple when I seen it at the track. I havent put a bid in for the 3.2 car, its much more that I want to spend, but would love to buy as I like that color.

The Grey ones are usually registered as Black on HPI.

I think mine doesn't even have a colour on HPI.

What check do you use, both of the ones I use now only provide very limited information :(

Think you guys are right! it was dark grey. Cant really tell in the pic I have but looks more grey than purple. Dont know why I remember a purple car at the track that day??. Send me your reg I'll check to see what color come up if you like!

Its not unusual for the dark grey to be registered as black. This happened on a Civic we used to have.

Be interesting to see what color your photo's show. I'm sure CMUK would be interested to (if he doesn't already know).

The pic I have is off the old school type, so it wont come up to well if I post it as I will have to scan it. But will upload it now. Had a good look at it and it's still hard to tell, but think you are right in saying its grey.

Sorry guys pics are not great as I had to scan them. But thats me in the red NSX back in 1997, and on the outside in the P26 OLU car is a Racing Driver called Kevin McGarrity, the son of Harrold McGarrity that owned a Honda Dealership in Belfast.

Would you go for a purple Sudesh, even if its a rare X colour? Given it was at the right price.

Sudesh

Yeah I would, its unusual and if it was manual then yes

Simon, done a check on the P27 OLU and as previously mentioned, The color does come up ok. Although the check says the car is Targa/Convertible my pic of the car is clearly a coupe! Unless the plate has been moved to a different NSX?

P27 is certainly a coupe and the V5 verifies it also.
P27 has always been on my car and has not been on any other car either.

I was thinking that going by the pic of your car I found in a book. The HPI system tend to get the odd thing wrong now and again.

I too, really like the midnight purple.

The JDM wheels may be chav to some, but I don't care.

BTW, photographers often use weird filters for mood shots, before poor Sudesh books an emergency optician's appointment.

Did enjoy the spectulation about P27 OLU, since I know it is Simon's!

You mean it's not a targa?

I also thought that you could only get Midnight Purple NSXs with the targa rooof (like mine - I've not seen any coupes in this colour).

I've know the Mccgarritys in Belfast too, they have a famous rallying cousin who competes in the class below the British Championship, their youngest brother did the actual Le Man race in a alternative fuel class a few years back. Harold himself used to be a great driver in his youth & used to own a lovely red S800. They have another garage in NI too, not sure where now. :)

Sudesh
08-06-2007, 10:32 PM
Yeah thats one of them in the other NSX beside me in the red one. Think it was Kevin McGarrity. He used to be a formula 3 racing driver and moved up the ranks since then. I know Harold well, his Honda Dealership is beside my office in Campsie in Derry just walking distance away. They also looked after the servicing of my previous NSX's.

I been to their Belfast dealership and got on well with Phil, whose the older brother of Kevin I think. They sometimes sell X, but newer rather than older ones. Think this year they had a 03 or 53 or 04 reg for sale. I remember they brought Eddie Jordan's own special limited edition X in yellow and they gave it a comprehensive respray !

Sudesh
08-06-2007, 10:49 PM
Yeah I know Phil too but, not as well as Harold though. They dont have a Honda dealership in Belfast anymore, it was taken over by a Huge firm called Issac Agnew that own quite alot of major dealerships in Belfast. Harold always kept an NSX for himself. They were at one time the only NSX dealership in N.Ireland. One of their longest standing NSX clients in a man called Paddy Heron, who is the longets owner of an NSX I know. Paddy owned an NSX when they first came out in 1991, then sold it in 1999 and purchased a yellow 1995 car. He owned the reg's M7 NSX which looked like MY NSX and also owned M9 NSX which looked like MY NSX the way he edited it

Thinking silver was purple, somwhere higher up the thread.

One sometimes sees the same car come out very strange colours in different magazines.

Sudesh
11-06-2007, 11:46 AM
It wasnt Silver it was Magnum grey, pretty easy to tell silver from purple! Magnum Grey is quite dark in color, like the purple and being that it was over 10 years ago it was difficult to recall. But your right as the photo I have of the Magnum grey car was difficult to see, think the angle make it hard.

Thats a bit sad & explains when I went onto the website a few months ago the garage in Belfast now sells posh motors like Range Rovers etc?! Do they still own the other Honda dealership? Have they just got the one dealership now? & has Harold retired? He used to own a little friendly dog I remember a few years ago! :)

Sudesh
11-06-2007, 10:47 PM
Yeah Issac Agnew own some of the top makes, BMW, MERCEDES, PORSCHE, RANGEROVER etc. I think Harold is retired, he is about 68/69 now. Havent seen him since my last NSX about 2 years ago, he still owns the Honda dealership beside my office and called over to see me, he was driving a silver targa then. He (OR HIS SONS NOW) also owns a Kia dealership and used car centres in Belfast and yes, 2 years ago he still had the wee dog!!
