On the left is a Bridgestone RE070 Type R tyre, on the left one of my new Kumho's that I've bought. They are both 215/40/17. The Kumho is wider, by about 20mm. The distance between the beads on the Kumho is 215, but tread is wider.

Just interesting, that's all.

Oh, why have I bought Kumho's and not fancy Bridgestone S03's? Easy, price. My tyres don't last a few days on the track, so I figure it's better to get cheap tyres and more practice, than it is to waste expensive tyres.

So four Kumho KU15, the most expensive Kumho that the shop had, came to £280.

Are they any good though, Kevin?

They're not on the car yet!

I'm not too worried if they are good or not really. I'm planning on doing lots of track time, now that all the work I want to do on the car (for now), is done.

Time for me to get some practice and training!

That's surprising since the 215 measurement is meant to be sidewall to sidewall not tread width. 2 tyres each with a 215 designation should be the same width sidewall to sidewall. The Kumho appears to be significantly wider in this dimension.
