I have noticed that the site works best if you log in to the home page of the site, not the forum page.
If you go direct to the forums, and log in there, then the rest of the site doesn't recognise you have logged in, and then some of the main menu items don't work, as they are only visible to registered and logged in users.
Also you can vote on the home page poll, if you are not logged in.
The best thing to do is log in to the home page, set the remember me option, and you won't need to log in again when you visit.
I might even take out the ability to log in directly to the forum.
