This is not an 'official' NSXCB meeting or anything, but a few of us are going to Bedford on the 20th for a track day.

As I have spoken to a few members recently, some have expressed an interest in trying out their cars on a track.

Bedford is the ideal place for the novice. No armco means it's very hard to hit something. The day is also being run by RMA, which will make it one of the best organised days you will get.

As it's in the off season, the price is low too, at £175. Hopefully it will be damp, which means that all the fun will be at lower speeds, and wear and tear on the car is minimal. Wet tracks are actually ideal for novices to learn car control, strange as it may sound.

I'm going, Darren possibly and Mo. Anyone else?

Book through www.rma-limited.co.uk

It looks like my baby won't be back together in time for this event

my gearbox is still in bits at Dali waiting for the LSD to arrive from Japan - even if it arrives this week, it's pushing it to get it installed and shipped over to me then installed in the car in time.

But doesn't thee also have a Skyline that needs some exercise?

Still thinking of doing it, but I'm also still waiting for tyres and then MOT/service :|

Definately maybe. I have a sports exhaust which I think will (just) get by, other stumbling blocks are:

New tyres needed
New pads needed
New rear discs needed

Oh, and the wallet will be taking a battering that close to xmas anyway :o

I may come along in the Cooper S as its great fun round Bedford, easier on its rubber and has new boots all round.

what is the noise limit?

the Skyline is kicking out about 104db at the moment

It would be 101dB there, noisy boy.

However my friend's Cerbera, gets tested at the gate at 109dB, and gets a red sticker. But they do let him on the track, under the condition that if he breaks the driveby limit as well, he's off.

So far, he's been allowed to run all day, when its running, its noticably quieter than other cars.

when its running, its noticably quieter than other cars.sounds like mine then - under boost the exhaust gases going through the turbo must lose some of their volume, but when stationary this doesn't happen.

ok I've gone and booked myself in for this

guess I'm gonna do the thing I said I wasn't gonna do and take the Skyline onto the track

I've got a baffle thingy for the tail pipe which I'll fit prior to rolling through the gates for the noise test - it sounds like a raspberry and cuts max boost to 0.8bar, but it'll do for the initial test - should be ok without it for the drive-past so I'll take it out before going on track for max boost of 1.5bar - watch out for me down the straights!!

BTW there's some pics of the beast in my other thread here (http://nsxcb.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1621#1621)

Is it possible to come to this event and not book in to go on the track?

I should have my baby back from the bodyshop by then, but can't commit to being able to make it that day, so don't want to book it and throw away £175 if I can't make it.

It would be nice to pop along and meet a couple of other NSX owners, even though it isn't an official NSX meet.

Drivers are allowed to book passengers, at a cost of £25.

If you don't want to pay, they won't let you onto the pit lane, so you will be stuck by yourself, on the other side of the track.

Hope you can make it.

last time we went you could add a passenger at the driver registration stage - if it is the same this time then if Paul just turns up I'm sure someone can claim him as their passenger?

Just to let you know, I got my tyres/MOT finally (yay) but decided to go away that weekend 'cos its my birthday. So I won't be there now, I'll be getting lashed up instead ;)

Yes, it shouldn't be a problem.

Apart from the drivers that have already stated their attendance, is there anyone who is looking to come along to watch get a ride?

Cost is £25 for passengers to enter. You may have to sign in as a passenger to a driver, so as long you can find one of us there won't be a problem. If we know who is intending to come along, it may help.

Hi all

Is their any instruction available at this track day and if so do you know wether there is still space available? Looks like i'm going to have the day free and am interested in joining you if possible?
I expect nobody here will know the availability but if someone could give me the contact details I would be grateful

cheers

I do know the availbility. The day is sold out now.

There is another on the 11th Dec if you're free then. I'm going to that one too.

Instruction is available on these days.

Hi Olly,

There is a (relatively) cheap charity trackday at Bruntingthorpe on Saturday, I'm doing some track photography for the day but should be doing a few laps in my car too: PM me if your interested, I'll find out if there are any spaces available. AFAIK there are a few other events happening throughout the day to keep your interest too.

cheers,
Steve

small video of Kev and Mo here (http://www.darrenferneyhough.com/images/bedford/bedford20nov04.wmv)

quality is pretty poor as I was some distance away and shooting with the movie mode of a digi stills camera, but feel free to download it - it's 40 seconds of grainy footage and weighs in at 1.9MB

Shame, the video would look really cool, if shot with a video camera.

Watch out NSX train coming through! Pesky GT3's in our way :D
