Well as everytime I seem to go out of the house I see an NSX on the road I thought a thread with all the spotted ins would be best.

Wednesday 25th April 09:00 ish Red NSX on the back of a car transporter going West on the M4 just after Reading services.

Saturday 21st April 14:00 ish Blue 02+ NSX seen going up the hill from Bath towards the M4.

Out came the sun and the NSX's today.

First was dark coloured, possibly Charlotte, this morning near Lakeside shopping, R14 *** looked to have non standard rims

Second was Red/Black A13 Dartford bound around lunchtime, maybe the one I see in the area regularly, L6 maybe?

I was around that way today, but alas not in the NSX. Saw plenty of 'Exotics' making the most of it though; Orange Gallardo and two 550 Maranello's (one a Spyder)....how common.

Hey guys I feel very left out in the spotting stakes, it seems the X is more prevailent in the South (more money?) & much rarer up North, but then again I feel more exclusive & special when I drive through Manchester city centre at cruising pace & everyones intrigued with the badge! It would be nice to see another one though :D Calling all Xs in the North, my X feeling lonesome! :(

I think that the NSX is a car that's is very few and far between, no matter where you are. Over in NI there is about 3, (mine no longer being one as that in now in Edinburgh).

Although I do a fair bit of traveling around, I really have to say I think I have spotted less than 5 different ones on the road EVER. This was one of the main reasons I hunted for a year for one, as I was looking for something that little but "different". And now I don't think I'll ever get rid, I was expecting something good, and it turned out to be something Special

Yeah I know exactly what you mean, although Porche was low down my list, an older Ferrari was a possibility, but lets face it, for the same money all you are paying for is the badge and not a good car. I was tempted buy a Jag XKR, but after I looked at one, I say them (well mostly XK8s) all over the place.

TheSebringOne

When the X arrived, it was better then the rival 348, which alot the car press stated was'nt one of Maranello finest! Plus it can & will rust, expensive to service & needs more regular TLC & was very tail happy! When the 355 arrived, the price & performance made the Porsche the only natural rival. Think you can pick up a earliest XK8 a P reg for 8-10k now & a super charged one 2-3 k more?, so much higher depreciation lost. Also the key thing is its much heavier weight & tad too GT, rather than a driver's car that the X is.

Yes those prices are about right, and I think the other problem with it is that they still wanted the luxury of being a Jaguar, so all that wouldn't help with the weight issue, the NSX was definately the best choice by far.

Jim

TheSebringOne
29-04-2007, 01:12 PM
Thats the issue, do want loads of creature comforts, which means more weight, affects handling or do you bare with basic essentials and though the X a bit tight on this options front, think Honda got it just about right! :D

The previous generations XK8 & XKR were 1685 & 1735 KGs, given the 3.2 was bewteen 1382 to 1420ish KGs, then extra weight adds upto approx 4 grown men or 5 ladies. Maybe we add tow bar & trailer to the X!! ;) The new Jags uses all Aluminium, strangely Honda thought of this idea in late 80's, before its debut in 90/91 globally! Once again the X was the innovator! :D

Nice of you to join us Carl! :D Do you own a red X then?

If only. :(

I am a huge NSX fan but owning one is out of my reach as things stand.

I have owned a CTR (EP3) for the last 4 years but a diesel beater is now the tool at hand.

I hope to do a deal on a nice S2000 this winter - who knows, if the numbers improve next year then NSX ownership may be on the cards. :D

TheSebringOne
29-04-2007, 03:43 PM
Well, theres plenty of time to save up, maybe after the S2000 next time round, you might be moving up to an X! Don't worry they don't rust at all, so there will be around in many years to come! ;)

The plate T1 was retained by the previous owner and I think has been advertised on here for sale.

I think the IOP is Marc's Type S, cracking car! The red at the ring is probably Detlef of Procar as he's been there for the last few days trying out his facelifted R project car.

Yeah that was me (N5 XSR) :)

I was forced to use the NSX as the day car (540i Touring) burst it's radiator last week. In fact I was out picking up some Anti freeze ahead of fitting the new radiator. Done now so the NSX doesn't have to venture out in this miserable weather.

One of the R8s was with a group doing training on a day closed to the public - I'm not sure if it was a trainee driving though, as it zipped away from the group in the opposite direction as if it was a staff car ... and when it did, it sounded like this! Recording of R8 disappearing (http://www.forwardcharm.co.uk/uploads/r8.wav)

The other R8 (http://www.forwardcharm.co.uk/cgi-bin/picturegallery.pl?folder=audir8) was parked outside the Skyline hotel in Riga - I got about a bit last week!

I live in West Hoathly (only about 3 miles from Standen) and driving back into the village along our very insignificant 'B' road on Sunday I was met by waves of old TVR's, Caterhams, newish MGF's and Cobra's - a slightly eclectic collection of cars, and whilst I could read their London-Brighton stickers, I did wonder a/ what on earth they were doing running through West Hoathly and b/ who the organising body/club was????

Thanks for the positive comments on the car - it really is a stunning example with very low mileage.

I was searching for the right one for years and finally found it at Phoenix Honda a few years back. It only gets used on fine weekends but that's enough to keep me happy.

TheSebringOne - The exhaust tips are the Ripspeed ones from Halfords. They are easy enough to fit and with the upsweep and correct length, the Ripspeed logo is not readily visible. I did mod them slightly by fitting an internal splitter to aid the gas flow to each exit pipe as they are not well designed in this respect.

SS - I spent most of last year working in Essex (Colchester) but have recently relocated to Peterborough so doubt that I will get back down there soon.

This time it was me :)

My BeeEmm lunched it's water pump last week and I've been forced to use the NSX as daily transport. Ohh the hardship.

I was going down to Hastings to see another car. Now don't laugh but I've bought myself a Citroen CX... a 1986 Series 1 CX 2500i Pallas Auto to be exact.

I've always had a thing for them and saw this one on ebay described as near concours (which it isn't) but it is nice and will cure me once and for all.

Pretty much as far removed from an NSX as you can get but it is another anti-establishent option. I suspect it might be a tad less reliable that the NSX :)

You're thinking of the Series 2 DS models (1968-75), the CX had fixed lights. My DS is a series I so fixed non-enclosed lights.

James, Graham's correct it was the DS had the headlights that swivelled with the steering. Now if ever a car was ahead of it's time, the DS was!
My CX still has the magic carpet ride though, especially since I replaced the front "spheres" (sort of equivelent to dampers) and "accumulator" (of main hydralic pressure). Dead easy as well, took alll of 20 mins :-)

Yep, the Tubi's on and the car sounds as it should. I had fun with the tail pipes though; I got some made up which were copied from the tubi ones.
When they were fitted one pipe was longer than the other so I took the car down to the fabricators and they spend a couple of hours welding extra pipe on. I'm really pleased with the result and the time and effort they took to get the job done properly.
If anyone is looking for exhaust work in the SW I'd recommend them.

Service completed successfully and ecconomically (inl. MOT).
The service manager (Brian, is it ?:) has a new battery testing gadget which we tried out on mine and it said my battery is 'just' ok.

I'm from up north but have always taken the car to Norton Way.

On the way back, just as I was turning off the M6 onto the M56 towards Chester, I 'just' heard a toot. (I had Budgie on quite loud at the time) and just turned my head in time to see a red 'K' (I think) reg NSX carrying on up the M6.

Whenever I have seen NSX's before I am never in mine. So 2 in two days is quite amazing.

I'm hoping to have twin back pipes fitted soon, if the price is right, from a North West exhaust maker to give it a 'sharper' look.

Regards to all
Rod

howellr I think I saw your car at Norton Way this sort of time last year, looked good then, hope it's still as good now. Any pictures for us as it's such an unusual colour (didn't have my camera with me last year) N***NSX ????

Hi Rod,

What are the details on your car, is it circuit blue? It looks lovely in the small pictures in your user profile!

I make the trek to NW too for my services which seem to come up every 5 months or so too. It is just peace of mind having Brian and his team look after it!

Cheers,

Matt.

Yes, I was in NWay this time last year but the annual visit was a bit quicker this time as no big issues - 1 gromet on the rod that holds up the engine cover when your mates are peering at the engine.
the passenger door opener was just catching the paintwork when my kids slam the door - now ajusted.
And the offside windscreen wiper blade used to hit the upright when I was doing 71 mph (!) - it has now been ajusted correctly.

Last years was a bit of an eye waterer but in some ways vey lucky, as my clutch went about 4 miles from arriving at NWay for the service and they also discovered that the air-con compressor was locked solid. So it was with them for a little while last year while they got it referbed but all is good this year. (are you all still awake ?)

The car is Nov 2000. Bought from Chiswick. It's done 38K. It's a 3.2 Manual Targa. It has tinted windows and the high brake light. It's circuit blue. I have Bridgestones on all four corners. I have a honda CD changer in the boot which works until it doesn't work and then I have to empty the changer and re-load it (I have mastered this technique)

I'll post some more pics when i get to work tomorrow.
Do the My Garage pics always disapear ?

Popped into Plans yesterday to collect some bits etc and bumped into these NSX as well as Dave Fenn's track beasty

Silver 3.2, 6k miles having new 010's fitted - W***TNM - looked lovely as you would expect with the mileage
Black 91(?) manual having lots of upgrades done to chassis plus Dave's old bonnet and spoiler - its an Ireland based car reg, 91-C ***1. Running wth some nice mods

I then had a chat with another team locally to dicuss a few ideas and came across this little beauty, Charlotte Green 3.0 NSX-R with 02 rims  Looked lovely and after speaking to Matt think that this may well be Flemke(?) car? *** NSX

It was tucked away with a number of other great cars including Carrera GT, Lambo's, selection of interesting F cars and a few I couldn't recognise under their protective sheeting.

Simon, I have full numbers if you dont have them already on the record sheet.

I don't like yellow seats, the rear diffuser with the gt style sc fins on it or big dustbins sticking out of the back.

From what I can see your car has none of these:laugh: I'm currently getting a WW front splitter fitted and have been contemplating going for the black bonnet and spoiler look to match the roof, I know there are loads on Prime but had no idea we had one like it in the uk... nice.

What other goodies do you have then - tell me quick before I stalk your previous posts:laugh:

You're right about each to their own, IMO the type R wheels would look awesome if you painted them gunnmetal... but then nobody knows you have a very expensive set of type R rims!

I do have Detlef's "AP upgrade" and these are matched with 2002 type r calipers all round....i did try a set-up with "big brake" up-grade but it was not right for lots of reasons..these brakes are super on road and track...a bit of brake dust...and with white wheels !!!.....to all the max power mockers of my wheels i did think of a colour change but i sold a kidney to buy them and felt this would de-value them long term, not that they are going to be sold etc.....the car is very low mileage and has alot of "rare" parts etc not just on the style side but performance as well...i tried to create a "club Sport"...enhancing the basic car to an up-dated classic....in the flesh the details to the car are the key to it's "one off" status.
