I'm guessing these are all built on the NSX-R GT base cars?

No they share very little with the NSX, except the body work, of which the NSX-GT was created for the homologation. (Homologation is a technical term, derived from the Greek homologos (ομόλογος) for "agree", which is generally used in English to signify the granting of approval by an official authority.)

Then again there are rumours that the NSX-GT has a carbon chassis, but no one has ever substantiated this.
