Realised my car needs an MOT .... realised my rears are not strictly legal.

Trying to get OEM spec Yokos (A022-H0 245/40 ZR17). Had two places tell me they have right-rear in stock but I'll have to wait until mid to late October for the left rear!!

Any ideas? Is there something equally good I can try that people recommend? Trouble is I've only just replaced the fronts, with Yokos, and I don't fancy mix n' match much.

Oh pants...

Any thoughts on Dunlop SP9 tyre? Right size ... any good?

there are plenty of options to choose from, just go to your local tyre specialist and quote the sizes and they'll give you all the options you can choose from.

bear in mind that there's plenty of room to go up a size or 2 in width - this can make some tyre options available which would not be when sticking strictly to factory sizes

Bridgestone SO3PP are a good choice and reasonably priced as are Goodyear Eagle F1's although a little more pricey

Ok thanks... whats the wear characteristics like on the Bridgestones? Roughly same as OEM or worse?

BTW, it may interest the collective to know that one person I've spoken to claims Yoko are no longer going to bring A022-H0 tyres into the UK, so if you want to stick with OEM best start finding a friend in Japan.

Probably worth asking on NSX prime... off I trot.

I put SO2PP's on the rear of mine in early 2003 - after 18 months and 10,000 miles of hard driving (sideways & smoking at most opportunities I'm afraid) including 3 trackdays they were down to the cord on the insides - pretty damn good I reckon. Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD2 went on the front at the same time and are still only half worn - grip has been good with these.

Thanks.

Having thought about it I'm just going to wait for OEM yokos to come in. Next time round I'll think about changing to something else, or just order the OEM stuff well in advance.

If anything, putting something a S03PP on the rear, is going to give you more grip than the front. That shouldn't give you problems.

Once I put S03s on the car, I wouldn't go back to the old Yoko's, no matter what I read on forums.

SO3s next time then. I'd get them this time if I hadn't just spent the money on new fronts...

Confirmed from a very good source this is complete rubbish. Sorry about that.

I shod my 300zx twin turbo and my Skyline GTR in Potenza S03.
My NSX will have the same come the time, a great tyre.

I'm a big advocate of the Proxes TX1 - great all rounder.

Damien, I am selling a set of Yoko's with free wheels well the price works out that way, in the For Sale section.

Noticed that ... but will 15/16" fit a 2001 car? I seem to recall reading there was an issue with that, location of calipers or something...

Ah yes, forgot you got such a new car! The wheels won't fit your car.

It's funny, I am considering the options for new tyres, for the Civic VTi!

The same tyres get mentioned in dispatches for Civic VTis, S2000s and NSXs!

I am considering switching from OEM to Proxes or GSD2s and was interested in any opinions re sidewall stiffness and turn-in. I dislike understeer and like the throttle adjustability in any Honda.

The S-02 is standard on the S2000 and most think the S-03 does not work as well ultimately, although it has a less extreme wet/dry road issue than the S-02. Many feel the GSDs provide the best wet/dry compromise, but the trade off is slightly soggier feel and less dry road grip.

I prefer the "extreme" OEM tyre personally and would most likely have a similar prejudice having helped to trash them on an NSX!

I hope that is of some help!
