How about some CF mirrors?

Go for the cameras, it will help you get a lower coefficient of drag.

For a number of years I've been playing with ideas similar to camera/interior monitor rear view. All though when I had all my "new-fangled" ideas years ago, the prices were extorsionate and technology pretty crap.. The only probs I can foresee with using monitors and cameras instead of mirrors, would that pass an MoT? as in the event of electrical/component failure you would have no rear view? But apart from that , I agree, having no mirrors sticking out, better aerodynamics and easier to park......and would look the part with wee monitors inside the car................come to think of it, I might still do that one day too!

Would you not get a huge 'blind-spot' down the side of the car?

I wouldn't think so, some of the camera equipment available today are minute but still give a good wide-angle image, so you should be able to obtain an image on a screen similar to what you would see in a normal wing mirror.

I'm sure if you trawl through enough car mags, someone has bound to have done this already, in fact I think I've seen it somewhere just can't rem where.

I've thought about getting rid of the inside rear view mirror and replacing it with the one that turns into a monitor when you engage reverse with a wee camera on the back (colour during the day, infra red at night) saw them on good ol' fleabay.

something similar to this perhaps?

You can also get the Nova from the 'bay' for about £70 that you'll need to fit it to too...;)
