Hi,
I've just been reading through the service manual, to try and find out the coolant capacity, so I can buy the correct amount of anti-freeze but I'm finding a few different quoted numbers. Some places is states 18 litres, in others only 12 litres. Anyone shed some light on what the more accurate figure is ?

I have the drained coolant still in a bucket, so I can, if necessary, measure this.

Thanks.

12l when just drained, 14l when the hoses have been changed too.

Thanks, so 6 litres of anti-freeze for the recommended 50-50 mix with water.

Honda coolant is pre-mixed AFAIK, so you will need 12 litres.

Just visit your local Honda dealer and ask for the Honda Type 2 Coolant 5L bottle.
It's blue, pre-mixed at 50/50.
One bottle contains about 5.45L.
Unless you are going to use the vacuum feed, you will need some extra during the bleeding process so just get 3 bottles.

I normally use parts no. 08CLA-G01-8L0 (it will show up as 'parts no. not recognised' on the Honda UK system but don't worry) when ordering 1 - 3 bottles (5L each) because using -G02- code seems to lead you to higher price for the same product.

If thinking of using the same coolant for other cars and want at least 4 bottles, you can use 08CLA-G02-6L1 and this comes as 4 x 5L bottles with just one parts no. and you can save a little.

50/50 is not ideal from the cooling efficiency point of view but very good for other objectives such as rust prevention, etc.

For C30A, the full coolant capacity is about 16.5L and as goldnsx mentioned, you are very likely to be able to drain only about 12L if not replacing the coolant hoses.

Therefore, although Honda Type 2 coolant is good for 5 years, fair amount of old coolant could be left if no other measures were taken during the draining process so I normally recommend bit earlier maintenance schedule, like after 4 years.
