Got a strange one... :)

Got in the car, pressed the alarm fob to disable the immobiliser, LED stopped blinking (or was out, didn't notice), turned the key and no dash lights at all. Wiggled the key in the ignition suspecting the usual issue with the ignition contacts, try a few more times, nothing. Opened the drivers door and bingo, all the lights on the dash come on, fuel pump primes and I'm able to start the car, shut the door and drive without issue. I can open the door and when the lights come on, I can shut it and the dash lights stay on and I can start the car ok too.

Not really sure where to start with this...faulty door switch, relay, immobiliser freaked out??
Any suggestions?

Do you have window lifts on the alarm???
Does the dome light come on automatically when you disarm the alarm???

No and no. Basic cat 1 alarm.

Suggest removing the central locking fuse and trying to start the car in the normal way with your door closed after deactivating the alarm.

....removing the CL fuse made no difference at all....

Sorted. Earth wire behind the siren had come adrift. Phew.
