Just a thought, Legendary reliability, Who has the highest mileage NSX that has not experienced a major failing in the Engine/Gearbox dept?

92 NA1
137,456 miles
Still on original clutch radiator and hoses only normal service items apart from new shock absorbers all round at about 50k miles.
Only "major" item to have packed up was an alternator, 3 times in fact, but the last 2 were second hand and climate control unit, repaired by Kaz.
Track days, at least 6
I've only ever driven it spiritedly since ownership 17 years ago.

Now thats what I call reliable, I think:)

How about yours then markeyb???

98 NA2 Pre Targa 144k miles - perfect compression across all 6 cylinders

I think there is someone in Europe who is near on 500k kilometres

Great to hear! On the contrary, i bought a car with just over 100k miles and a valve had gone; a reminder that you still have to keep an eye on things.

However, the worst car i've seen is a very low mileage one at JDR. The crank had broken where it had simply been started up and warmed up in the garage over a number of years. A very expensive fix which probably outweighed the appreciated value (and the fact the owner barely got to drive it).

Wow. Important to drive them often I think. Revving hard while not under load is also bad I think, alot of people with low mileage garage queens are guilty of this!

Important to warm up properly, rev match and do regualar oil changes I think!

What a bloody waste of a good car.

Better blown up than neglected to death.

A friend of mine here in Austria, who is the original owner of his NSX, has driven a bit over 518,000 km with his. His engine has never been open for anything other than regular servicing. When he had the compression and oil pressure measured this year, the mechanic said everything was absolutely fine. Now that's quality.
