At an SAE event in the USA, Acura released more info yesterday.

I'm not a turbo-whizz, but it doesn't look like Honda have gone for an axial compressor in the V (as per the not-quite-sorted McLaren F1 engine).

The news that there are "10 heat exchangers" all round the car is ... as alarming as it is reassuring. Not sure this will be an NSX to enjoy owning 20 years down the line.

The goal is to keep the CoM down low so putting the turbos that little bit higher wouldn't really help with that. Also, being a twin turbo, I very much doubt there's room in the middle for both.

Key thing for me is that they are claiming it has more electrical power than any previous acura hybrid. Since the RLX had 120bhp of electrical assistance, and since the engine is confirmed to be 3.5 litres, I'd be very surprised if the north of 550bhp actually means it will end up with over 600bhp. I think they were holding out confirming to see what the 488GTB puts out but revealing something to give people an idea of the ballpark.

Getting much more excited by this now.

At last, it's now being tested again at the the "green hell".

Surely someone, somewhere on this planet has now got a video and or sound track of the screaming V6 in action.
When you consider all the media technology that surround us in this day and age I find it impossible to believe it hasn't been recorded and put up online.
Or is everyone simply just following orders by Honda to push this great white elephant silently world wide from crate to crate to build up the hype ???:)

Really don't see what all the fuss is about. Yes its a new model, yes its got some new technology, but its is hardly a gamechanger in the way the NA1 was. Yes the new one is pretty(ish) but looks very similar to any other R8, Porsche, McLaren, Ferrari etc etc and doesn't excite me in the same way the NA1 did when t came out. It was THE poster al young boy had on their bedroom wall. I doubt that the new NSX will stir the emotions in the same way (even in red)

i have to disagree on one point.......the poster all boys had on their wall was the lamborghini countach in white!! right? and as far as gamechanging and stirring emotions....no its not the v10 that we were all hoping for a few years back but lets give it a chance eh? i admit i was disappointed with some of the styling cues but its grown on me and im even a little bit excited to be honest....i even considered putting a deposit down for one!! :D

just been reading up on the specs for the civic type r, disappointing the red line is only 7000rpm....remembering the 2000 version type r and its jdm counterpart who'd like to bet that the JDM version will redline at 8000rpm?

Really?

Not round my way it wasn't. It was all Ferrari's, Porsche turbos and Lamborghini's. With my fascination for all things Honda I was most certainly in a minority of 1.

I think the factor that tells me that this is nothing more than a cynical marketing ploy by Honda is that if they called this anything other than NSX there wouldn't be as much interest.
