I hope the deposit is refundable because some one is going to be disappointed if they find out the price is more than they wanted to pay, or they don't like the colours available or the spec and numbers do not match their expectations. (javascript:void(0))

It's in the nature of a deposit you won't get it back if you change your mind. Otherwise anyone can put down and withdraw a deposit and the car would have sold out a year ago. :) But if you Change your mind towards another Honda, maybe...
I don't recall any open books in Continental Europe or am I wrong on this?

I remember taking deposits the first time around ... and when it got close enough the choice was, err, one spec, manual or auto, red, silver or black (and you paid extra for the metallic!!).

That was it and we didnt lose a single deposit. You wouldnt get your deposit back on the 2015 model and dependant upon the contract you've signed, you may not be able to 'sell' your deposit either.

When I called to ask the local Honda dealer about the 2015 deposit, the only concrete bit of info the sales guy had for me was that the contract would not allow me to sell the new NSX within 6 months. Everything else was ... vague.

Never heard of a non refundable deposit. With the spec so open, there's no way they can refuse to refund it. That said, I paid mine by credit card and over the phone so I get protection from both of those factors if necessary. I don't anticipate needing it.

I've not signed anything either. I had to beg for a receipt for them to even acknowledge I'd put my name down.

It would be great if there were no options, that's one of the things I love about Japanese cars. Spec is very high as standard, and if not is usually only available in discrete levels rather than an annoying individual options list.

Not sure if being the first to get one is the optimum anyway. One year later or so there will be a type R-version or the like (with a blink in the eye to McLaren cars).

I thought that they would be built to order - in other words you spec it how you want it (within the available parameters). The list is just that - they'll contact you when a build slot is available. Yes there will be options, or should I say choices, to be made. The days of a factory churning cars out, then waiting for buyers is over (in this market sector).

I don't know. I like how the old NSX was, with the specs available. It would be nice if they can carry that on.

Isn't the substance of the new car more important than the way it is sold? I really don't care how they make it available so long as it's really good.

That's my point because the spec and details are so vague their will be people who change their mind for what ever reason . Just say the release price was twice what you was expecting. Ouch

Seems it was a rather haphazard offer.

I called within a couple of days of it being announced, and the only point made was the anti-speculation one that I mentioned above. And the sales guy had no Ts+Cs paperwork for me to look over.

I've heard that Honda have in fact taken 122 Orders with the first 25 being delivered in 2016.

They are also hoping to have a pre production car at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show.

If mine doesn't come in 2016, I'll cancel the order.

No way am I waiting that long. That said I don't know if it's possible to find out what number order mine is.

I put the money down in August.

Some interesting information.
I called in Honda Chiswick today to check over a CRV diesel, after which I got chatting about the new NSX with the sales manager who claims the new car will definitely be here December next year and registered to the new customers (of which they have over 20) in Jan 2016.

He also made a phone call to Honda UK and confirmed the price will be set at £125,000 for the entry level model and there will be a hard core model later in 2016 which will sell for £150,000 but couldn't confirm it would be called a type R, which will target the Ferrari 458 for out and out performance and handling head on.

Apparently there won't be many dealers getting one as a demonstrator but they definitely would, so I know where I will be going come Jan/Feb 2016 :)

That all sounds very interesting, so it is being pitched more against the 911 Turbo than the entry level 911. I think that is a very tough market area with some excellent cars around. I hope it is fantastic :)

I put a deposit down on the S2000 when they first announced it, and it was as described above - no real paperwork, no T&Cs etc. It was refundable right up until the point where you spec the car, then it's just like any other order. What you're buying - it seems - is the place in the queue by having the money down first.

£125k for the entry level seems a good bit higher than some expectations - and will put it within sight of the McLaren Sports Series, surely? http://www.cars.mclaren.com/latest/blackswanmoments. And a hardcore model later in 2016 targeting the 458? Erm, will there even be a 458 by then? http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/ferrari-458-get-new-twin-turbo-v8.

Looks like Acura are at least planning to offer the car with more than a couple of colour choices - http://www.acura.com/future/NSX#/7. What's the bet it goes on sale in the US for the same price in $ as £ in the UK? :(

I might really struggle to get £125k past the wife. Worse than that, I resent the idea of a performance model coming so soon afterwards. It's a slap in the face to the early adopters. Let's face it, who is ordering an NSX if not for the performance version?

Five large for that?

Makes CMC models look cheap. Mind you, those are exquisite.

Autocar featured an early peek at the McLaren Sports Series (aka 550S or whatever it'll be called) - http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/new-mclaren-sports-series-aims-porsche-911-turbo - and in the mag, it had a side panel showing 6 "rivals the Sports Series must Beat" - 911 turbo, AMG GT, BMW i8, new Audi R8 due next year with Huracan underpinnings, AM Vantage and the new NSX, described as "expected to be cheaper (£75k) but no less fun".

I wonder what they'd say if the NSX was the same price as the McLaren...

Great to see that the new NSX has been officially declared a "supercar" by the Detoit motor show press.

The order book is closed at the moment as they have over 100 (five grand) deposits, plus these customers will not see them until this time next year (beginning of 2016).

As the most active negative poster against the all new Honda NSX, I woud welcome further expansion of your comments claiming this car to be a joke. They should make for good reading coming from someone who sticks led lights in a lower lip spoiler.

Now for another joke, if Alonso wins a GP this year he will be upgraded to a Maclaren as Honda still can't say for sure when the new NSX will be ready:)
Still at least he can make do with a .............Civic???
