After countless hours of researching options, discussing venue’s, calculating costs we’ve come up with a provisional 3 or 4 day program for the 2015 NSX Club Europe Tour.
The Dates you will have to keep free in your agenda are; 5-7th or 5-8th of June 2015.

The program;

Friday 5th of June;
We start the day at the famous Hockenheimring for an insider’s tour. The guide will take us on a tour of discovery into the world of international motor racing. This is a great opportunity to take a unique look behind the scenes and be inspired by a host of anecdotes about the Hockenheimring. We might even do a lap with our NSXs on the Hockenheimring itself!
After the tour we will drive to our hotel, via a scenic route, where everybody has the time to check in and relax before we have dinner.

Saturday 6th of June;
Rise and shine! Today will be a full day of driving pleasure. We will take on one of the most breathtaking roads of Europe: Route 500, also known as the Hochstrasse. TheSchwarzwald Hochstrasse is one of the most beautiful elevated sections of highway in the Black Forest region. The initial stretch is fast, smooth and sweeping, with fantastic views on either side.
We will continue our tour through France to our second location: Mulhouse. Here we will have dinner and spend the night.

Sunday 7th of June;
The highlight of last year was the Spa Classic, so we decided to do something similar this year: Grand Prix de l’Age d’Or at Dijon Prenoix, where racecars from the 60’s will go head to head. From Ferrari 250 GT’s to Formula cars. As the Honda NSX is on theHappy Few List we will try and arrange a similar spot as last year. For the track rats there will be two track sessions, 20 minutes each, on this historic race track.

For those who can’t get enough from the NSX weekend there will be an option for an extra day. After the Grand Prix de l’Age d’Or we will drive to Luxemburg to have dinner and stay the night.

Monday 8th of June (optional);

To end the weekend, we will do a tour through the beautiful mountains and hills of Belgium in the Ardennes Forrest. To us petrol heads, the Ardennes are most famous forSpa Francorchamps. Imagine roads like the circuit of Spa, but then for hundreds of kilometers. Luckily we have an Ardennes expert in our team who will guide us through some breathtaking roads and sceneries.

We are currently discussing costs with the venue’s and Hotels and will update this article asap with prices! For 2015 we are also seeking sponsors as these made it possible to offer the trip at less then cost last year. So if your interested to sponsor email us on info@nsxclubeurope.com.

I've driven the Schwarzwald Hochstrasse many times and it's great. However before it was in a Toyota iQ!

Can we stop for Black Forest Gateau at Mummelsee?

I now have this weekend free, the only thing is, it is 424 miles (about 6 hour drive) from Calais to the Hockenheim-Ring. We would need to leave Calais at 5am to even stand a chance of arriving by lunch time.

Is anybody else thinking of going?

I'm in again this year...last year was superb. We're just trying to work the logistics of Becs possibly joining me part-way through (couldn't leave Josh with my folks for 4 nights, not yet).

Would definitely travel on Thursday - any suggestions for a suitable overnight en-route? Maybe somewhere with time for an abbreviated visit to the Schlumpf collection (Mulhouse) or (sacrilege I know ;) ) the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart?

I will probably go to my Brussels office for a while on Thursday then ploughing on a bit further (did contemplate another horse steak but done that now!). Was thinking of a couple of laps of the Nordschleife (dates for Touristfarting don't seem to be announced yet but fingers x'd) on the way to Hockenheim. It's sort of on the way.....

Not sure what time we ideally need to be at Hockenheim on Friday, I have asked the question, waiting for reply, but do you think it would be better to stop over a bit closer than Reims?
Are people generally working on the Thursday and travelling in the evening or have Thursday off & travelling at their leisure? I'm thinking of maybe taking a half day Thurs. and getting as close as poss to Hockenheim to avoid having to getting up too early the next day...

I have considerable travel to get to the point in England anyway so i will be off and flexible to meet up and head to whereever the majority feels is a good point to stop at. Whatever is decided I would be really grateful to meet up with anyone from the UK contingent else its going to be a very long journey for me on my own; therefore happy to meet at a convenient time/location when you guys plan to head for ferry/tunnel

I'd prefer to be a little later than a noon crossing - ~3hrs from my place w/o traffic and I should really help Becs get J off to nursery that morning as I'm leaving her with him for 4 days, so unlikely to be leaving before 9 / 9.30am.

If we could say 1pm / 1.30pm crossing I'd be cool with that, and it'd give Andrew a sporting chance to get there too - think he's 4hrs + traffic from Holyhead to get to my area near the top of the M40.

Reims is 2hrs 30 + stops from Calais, so a 1.30 tunnel would land 3pm local...even with 'rush hour' (not that bad round there) we'd still ETA at a hotel ~6pm...

What do you all think?

Eurotunnel have a 13:20, a 13:50 and a 14:20. Minimal price difference between them.

Shall we all agree to book the 13:50, and keep in touch / meet at the last services and convoy in together? If we're early there's a sporting chance we could get on the early crossing anyway.

Taxi5
18-03-2015, 09:38 PM

Return - I guess it depends what people want to do:-
- Head straight home Monday morning as they've a long drive (Andrew?)
- Head to Spa for the morning, leave at lunch
- Head to Spa, leave late

Eurotunnel is 3-4hrs from Spa, depending on traffic...and we gain the hour back crossing to the UK. I'd advise being on the M20 either before 3pm or after 5.30pm as the Sussex / Surrey stretches can get pretty busy at rush hour (Simon will probably be able to advise better).

I'll probably plan to land in the UK by 6pm, as that'll get me home after rush-hour but before it gets very late...so a morning spectating at Spa then a 5.xx pm crossing.

Silver Surfer
18-03-2015, 10:37 PM

From the eur site for consideration:

On Monday we will have three track sessions:

O 13.50pm to 14.40pm
O 15.30pm to 16.20pm
O 17.10pm to 18 pm

I fancy the 1st and maybe 2nd run and then to head back. That would be around 8pm return train.

No problem Nobby, call me any time you wish as long as you do it at least 48 hrs before departure.

Just to be clear then, you do NOT need to have UK RAC breakdown membership to have this one off European breakdown cover.

Hi Martin

Yes I've looked into this and found a nice Hotel with a big car park. It would be about £100 for the night and includes free Wi-Fi and buffet breakfast.

Would people be happy to get a Taxi into the centre and have a nice meal? (Meal would be about 50Euros ahead in a Michalin stared Restaurant).

Or we can just do our own thing.

I'm going to travel on Thursday as well but I'm not sure £100 for a quick kip is necessary is it? Sounds a bit dearer than it needs to be? Has anyone looked at any actual hotels/prices apart from Paul yet? It's just that it all adds up!

There are cheaper Hotels, but I' not sure you would want to leave an NSX outside. A little trick that some of the Hotels do is then charge for parking.

It was my intension to ring the hotel once I had numbers, so may get the cost down. (£100 is for a double room, not sure how much a single would be).

I'm going to book a train soon and align with the others so far. Can we get the hotel negotiations done soon so all our ducks are in a line? Would just like to get everything arranged sooner than later..

Cheers.

Good news, I just spoke with the manager of the Legere Hotel.

4th of July is a very high demanded date and their official best available rate is 249 EUR, but I put my charms into it and they can offer us the following special prices:

89 EUR including breakfast per single room
99 EUR including breakfast per double room

She reserved 10 rooms. Let me know if you want to take this offer.

Hi Dimer,

I can understand the 4th July possibly being in demand but we are looking at the 4th of June yes? Unless there is a secret mini Euro Tour I'm not invited too ;)?

Do you mean June and it's just a typo error?

If others choose this option instead of Reims I'll have a single room please..

Paul - have you made any progress with the Reims hotel & restaurant?

Reims is a slightly better location for the Thurs night (Legere is over an hour further away, so we'll probably arrive there between 7 and 8pm...albeit it's that much closer to Hockenheim too), and sounds like hotel prices won't be too different (food will be more in Reims, but hopefully better too...), so my 2p is that Reims would probably be the better solution if we can get it...

...but the Legere offer is a good one, and I think we'd be best served getting a decision made this week so as not to lose the alternative.

The Hotel in Reims is of a similar standard to the one in Luxemburg but the car park is out doors only. I would agree with Martin that it will take an extra hour or so to get there, but you are then nearer to Hockenhiem.

To get the best deal at the hotel in Reims it is best to book through Bookings.com ( Hotel Mercure Reims Parc Des Expositions ) £69 for a twin or Double room, (Breakfast is extra).

Happy to go with the flow, but the food is better in Reims.

havoc
01-04-2015, 07:54 PM
Thanks Paul. So my summary would be:-

Reims: Cheaper hotel, better food in town, outdoor car park, arriving ~6pm so have time to check in and have a proper night out. Friday morning would be up-and-out BEFORE 9am to get to Hockenheim by 1pm.

Legere Luxembourg: More expensive hotel, underground secure car park, arriving more like 7.30pm (and the Lille/Mons direct route has 4x roadworks on rouet) but food would be cheaper and on-site (and pretty fair, from memory) so quicker to access. Could leave ~10am and still be at Hockenheim in plenty of time...

We've got traffic risks both ways (Thurs night into Lux / Fri morning from Reims), price wise the money we save on the Reims hotel we could easily spend on food, taxi and on a little more petrol. So depends if you want a later meal and a lie-in with more secure parking, vs an earlier (and better) meal but an early start...

As above, I'll go with the majority. Can I suggest people post up preferences on here between now and midnight Friday, and we book the majority location over the weekend?

I'll start: Much as I like good food, I've a marginal preference for the Legere...known quantity food, room and service, and unless we hit real traffic on the way we can still have a decent meal and a good catch-up ahead of the main event...plus we've less risk getting to Hockenheim.

Hagasan
01-04-2015, 08:02 PM
I'll go with Legere for a lay-in and known secure parking. Plus cheaper fuel if we need it ;-) Just kidding on the last bit although every little helps, just as they did with the Eurotunnel tickets!!

Right guys, Only 2 weeks away now, would love to have you guys to meet up at my place, especially those that travels from the north, to have some refreshments before convoy to the tunnel.
It would take 1hr to tunnel at cruising speed, or 45mins with a bit of heavy foot :)

So if we are aiming for 1.30pm, We would need to leave my place at 12.30/12.45pm
Or any other suggestions?

Phil

One quick point guys...Eurotunnel insist you're at the terminal well ahead of departure - think it's 30mins before!

So for a 1.50pm crossing we need to be there and checked-in by 1.20pm at the latest, so if we're planning to meet up and travel together I'd aim for a pre-1pm arrival in case there's any accidents or issues (unlikely on M20 at lunchtime but not impossible).

Phil - cheers for the invite, but I'm coming around the south side of the M25 so Dartford would add ~20-30mins to my journey and the risks around the crossing approach...I'll meet you all at the terminal if that's OK?

Advance Passenger Information...

I was not aware of this but this is a new requirement (or an old requirement apparently now being enforced). Anyway, worth clicking the link below and filling it out before you leave home to avoid delays at the gate.

A friend of mine just came back from France and told me. Spookily enough I just had a phone call from Eurotunnel 5 mins ago to ask me to do it, so if you haven't expect a call.

Enjoy your trip guys - it's great to spend a bit of time with our Euro pals and give the cars a bit of stick. They love it!

Gutted that I'm not there with you - next year!
