Sorry if this has been posted before, I'm usually late the the party, but I can't believe that Direct Line aren't using an NSX, or at least a current Honda, for their latest "Meet the Wolf/I solve problems" TV adverts :)

If you haven't seen the ads, they've borrowed the Winston Wolf "cleaner" character from Pulp Fiction, even getting Harvey Kietel himself to reprise the character. In the film he arrives (and leaves) in a Silver NSX. In the Direct Line ads he arrives in a similar style (film speeded up) in a red Toyota GT86!

Can't view the ad over here in NZ, but you would have hoped that someone at the ad agency would care for details such as this. Where was it filmed - UK or US (RHD vs. LHD)? Was the GT86 even silver?

My thoughts match Marks.

Nope, the GT86 used is red....

researchers for the ad in the production team probably thought it was an American car and did not research the Acura badge ...

Maybe they wanted to use a more modern car? I understand red as everything they use in there ads are red.

I get the red thing to support the DL brand but they've gone to the trouble of recreating many original details (the double breasted DJ, the black faced gold watch) but missed the car. The GT86 featured is de-badged so it's probably not a sponsorship thing. HUK seem only too eager to roll out their red NSX auto for umpteen magazine articles so I don't think they'd of had a problem supporting Direct Line even if the badge had to be covered or edited out.

It's really no biggy but very annoying for an obsessive pedant like me :)

Mark,

I do know exactly what you mean, I do like attention to detail, they could have asked me nicely, my car is the same colour as the original in the film

Geoff, is it true they wanted to use your red NSX but then realised the ad would overrun?
lol
