The NSXCB welcomes Opie oils as a NSXCB vendor. For those that use Pistonheads will know Opie oils as a vendor of oils that know what they are talking about.

They haven't posted in their section yet, but NSXCB members can get a discount when purchasing.

Got my first order for oil yesterday. Arrived next day after the order.

I was recommended a fully ester based synthetic due the temps my oil gets to. As I have an oil temp gauge I know that the oil is exceeding 120deg C on the track. The GTX Magnatec I have been using apparantly breaks down at that temp. A full ester based oil doesn't. Also have read that there are about three ways of making a synthetic oil, and the 'full ester' oil is the 'real' way of doing it.

So I'll be using Silkolene Race 5W40 as recommended by these guys from now on, at a reasonable price too.

just my penny's worth.

Has anyone enquired as to what they recommend for a road car...I could not be bothered with filling in that form...

Pretty much as above really when I enquired about an oil for the NSX, S2000 and ITR.

The correct grades are 10w-40 or 5w-40.

You could use a 10w-40 semi for normal road use, changed every 5000 miles or go the 5w-40 synthetic route changed every 9000-12000 miles.

If the car is driven hard or used for lots of short journeys (these styles are heavy on oil) I would look at a 5w-40 synthetic.

This will also give better wear protection on cold start due to its better flow than a 10w-40.
