As I suspect everyone on the forum knows 2015 will be 25 years since the release of the NSX.

To mark this occasion the organisers of the Silverstone Classic for 2015 would like to invite us to take part in a parade lap of the F1 circuit. Ok so this isn't as exciting as a track day or a full bore blast but for many it is an opportunity to travel the same road as the F1 cars will have done a couple of weeks prior to the event.

I am trying to gauge the interest from all of us to make this a one time special event. The SSC 2015 is most likely to be held on 24-26th July 2015. How many would (tentatively) like to take part in the parade lap on the Saturday?

I will also approach Honda UK to see if they are interested in bringing their NSX NA1 - of course they may also decide to make the SSC a marketing event for the new NSX.

Names below :-

Great idea Mike. Perhaps they'll allow the Honda branded tent for another year! A high profile event to mark 25 years of NSX, I'd enjoy being in that parade.

Sounds like a great idea. If a group of Euro NSXers came via Harwich, then I'd be happy to help plan an A14/etc convoy.

Would be great to be part of this and its a great reason to try and make this the biggest gathering of NSX's in the UK. As this is the Silverstone Classic it would also be great to get a race car as part of the gathering. The only one I know of in the UK is the Fenn's car, if we can get some cars from the rest of Europe to attend, are there any cars with racing pedigree we could try and badger into attending?

Beat you to it guys, and good were all thinking the same way, I posted on the Euro thread earlier in the hope they might like to join us ... Some of you may remember we had half a dozen join us, plus I had the Fenns race car for Japfest in 2010 ... We've had 47 UK cars together so with a little help from our Euro friends we could bust this and hit 75 NSX ..... I've a few other ideas to bolster numbers that I'll talk to Mike about ....

This year's dates were announced in November, which from memory is pretty typical. If 25th is a Saturday, that's a safe bet for the SSC weekend, going on history.

NSX 2000

So, it's still provisional but the event is likely to be scheduled for 24-25-26/Jul/15 at this stage.

Nothing mentioned about the 25years anniversary of NSX or NSX parade lap on Saturday but there is a special ticket package called 'Silver Sunday' for those with a silver car (not just NSX).
You can check it out at their own website; http://www.silverstoneclassic.com/

Mike,

Probably worth checking if we can still have a pitch as we are not an official club and unlikely to change anytime soon.

If they wont provide us a pitch, maybe Honda will 'fund' if they have a new NSX available to show even if its not launched by then.

Also given the interest, be good to know if the parade is still a goer.

the pitch isn't what they get stroppy about, and caused the issues, it's honda lending us their branded pavillion/rain shelters!

Actually, given we've some European colleagues likely to visit, that's not a bad idea for the Saturday night. I'll have a think about a couple of roads for a twilight drive towards a decent place...then poll for interest closer to the date.

I have with much regret decided that I am unable to coordinate the 2015 Silverstone Classic Event on behalf of the NSXCB. This is because the rules imposed by the organisers of the SSC2015 require all clubs to have Public liability Insurance. The NSXCB is a forum, it is not a legally recognised body and therefore cannot get Public Liability Insurance. If I were to sign and agree to do what I have in the past I would be doing so knowing that first I was in breach of the agreement with the organisers of the SSC and second that in the event of an accident as a result of a car taking part owned by a person using the code provided to NSXCB I would potentially be liable.

From the SSC registration terms and conditions “All clubs must have Public Liability Insurance to cover their display area. This is in the sole interest of the club and is designed to protect it from any unnecessary and unaffordable financial claim made against it.”

It has been suggested that when Honda provide the pavilions that they cover the Public Liability portion. This is in part true, they do so for their equipment and the Pavillions – not theNSXCB cars that are brought.

I have made the proposal that a club be formed to manage events, “club” equipment, funding etc, however there does not seem to be much support for this. In my view it would not change what the NSXCB does or is, it would merely be a “container” for activities and events that would need managing and financial/legal cover. This proposal has not gained traction with the people on the forum. There is more detail on the connection of such a club and the NSXCB, but I will not go into that here.

If anyone would like to take this on contact me and I will pass everything over to you.

Hi Mike,

I would like to say Thank You to you for the personal interest and time you have invested to ensure many have been able to enjoy this event over recent years.

It does seem a shame that SCC have adopted this new position and in my view now risk losing some of its attendees and the very cars that many travel to the event to see.

Here's hoping someone can pick up the mantle and find a way of acheiving representation for the NSX in its 25 year.

regards, Paul

Hi guys,

Could we not form a NSXCB Silverstone Club for those going and get PLI for just the weekend , it can't be too expensive for one event .

With circa 50 cars listed to attend , if we all chip in say £5 , £250 should cover the insurance easily

Would be a shame to not attend with 50 cars wanting to go especially this year of all years .

Just a thought

we could form the "HONDA NSX Owners Club" - then this would exist for all events - NSXCB would be linked as the main website. That was my proposal originally

Firstly great big thank you to sorepaws ( Mike ) for all the hard work over the past years. I love going to this event and meeting new and old friends and with 2015 being such a big event for both Silverstone and NSX I want to be there. My knowledge with insurance is limited and I am sure we have more knowledgeable members on the forum who will provide guidance. All the cars on the stand and at the event would have Third Party or Fully Comprehensive Insurance which I believe automatically includes PLI. So if a car sets on fire and blows up or door flies open in the wind and hits someone that would be covered. Likewise with driving around circuit and the track

The only cover I see we would need PLI insurance for is for any signs, flags, tents, cooking facilities, gas bottles etc which may injure someone on the stand. PLI for 5 million would be under a £100.00 for a one off event and annually £200- £250.00 which could include Donington and Japfest etc. My question is if we didn't have a stand or flags and signs would we be okay, as the the cars are covered.

I agree with Steve all the cars attending could chip in a couple of pound to cover the cost if required. if we can get around the issue with the forum not being a club.

I thought we were a club! NSX CLUB Britain. So my vote would be to go with the idea Kingsley put forward and pay £100 or so for this one off event or the £250 or so to cover us for whole year.

unfortunately you'd have to sell it and get a beetle tho! anyway, back on track.....

I assume without a SSC recognised 'club' status, (with the associated insurance for the space between the cars (assuming the cars have usual minimum third party cover), and regardless of any honda tweaks/dealings to get pavilions on site for our use), they won't give us a club entry code, without that we won't get cars on site, let alone a NSXCB stand!!!

With regard to the fees, should they be required I believe there is a little money in the bank left over from 'Platinum contributions' to support the web site which could be used to pay for the PLI.

It may or may not be deemed fair though for the Platinum members to essentially foot the bill for everyone...as not everyone on the above list above is a 'Platinum'...

Constitution of the NSX Club Britain

INTRODUCTION

This Constitution is the body of Rules & Regulations by which the NSXCB (NSX Club Britain) is regulated. The rules are divided into four sections as follows:

Club name and objectives.
Membership.
Management.
Conduct of meetings.

OFFICIALS OF THE CLUB

3.1 Management

The authority and responsibility for the transaction of the business of the Club for its management shall be vested in a Committee, who, in addition to the powers and authorities by these rules expressly conferred on them, may exercise all powers and do all acts in furtherance of the objects for which the Club is established, other than those hereby expressly directed or required to be exercised or done by the Club in General Meeting.

3.2 Election of Officers

The President and Vice-President/s of the Club and Treasurer, Secretary and Committee shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting, subject to termination at the next Annual General Meeting following their appointment.

3.3 Committee

Nominations of Candidates for election to the Committee must be received by the Secretary not less than seven days before the Annual General Meeting, with an intimation in writing signed by each Member nominated that they are willing to serve. Nominations of Candidates shall be signed by the Member proposing them.

The Committee shall consist of not less than Three and not more than Ten Members, exclusive of the President and Vice-President/s, who shall be ex-officio Members of the Committee. The Committee shall elect from among its Members a Chairman and Vice-Chairman.

The Committee shall have the power to co-opt other Members as they deem necessary. The Committee may appoint, from outside the Membership of the Club, an Auditor and/or a Solicitor.

The Committee shall have the power to appoint a Sub-Committee of not less than three persons to meet on its behalf in respect of any matter which is specifically referred to the Committee.

One quarter of the Members of the Committee shall form a quorum.

3.4 Meetings of the Committee

The Secretary, either of his own accord or by the direction of the Chairman, shall, unless otherwise agreed by all the Committee, give at least seven days notice of the holding of a Committee Meeting.

3.5 Absence from Committee

Any Member of the Committee who shall, without sufficient reason, absent themselves from three consecutive Committee Meetings may be assumed to have resigned from the Committee.

3.6 Voting of Committee Members

Each Member present at a meeting of the Committee shall be entitled to exercise one vote. The Chairman shall not vote except in the exercise of a casting vote. The Committee shall vote by ballot if any Member present so demands.

Sorry to do it this way but it was too big to submit as one post
MEETINGS

4.1 The Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting of the Club shall be held in the month of April in each year upon a date and at a time to be fixed by the Committee.

The Annual General Meeting shall:

(a) receive from the Committee a full statement of accounts which may be audited, showing the receipts and expenditure for the year ended 31st March;

(b) receive from the Committee a report of the activities of the Club during the said year;

(c) elect the President, Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer of the Club;

(d) elect the Committee;

(e) decide on any resolution which may be duly submitted to the meeting as provided for in these rules.

4.2 Special General Meeting

A Special General Meeting may be convened by the direction of the Committee, or by the Secretary on the requisition of at least ten percent of the Members of the Club.

4.3 Agenda

When Members wish a matter to be discussed at a General Meeting, the text of that matter, signed by at least two Members, shall be sent to the Secretary at least fourteen days before the date of such meeting so as to be included in the agenda of that meeting.

A copy of the agenda shall be sent to each Member at least five days prior to the date of the meeting, but the fact that any Member has not received a copy of the agenda shall not invalidate the proceedings.

Business which is not included in the agenda, under the item "Any Other Business" shall not be discussed at the meeting unless every Member present is in favour of the discussion taking place.

4.4 Voting

Every Member with the right to be present may express one vote. The Chairman shall not vote except in the exercise of a casting vote. At all General Meetings, except as provided in sub-section 1.3, a majority of votes decides a resolution.

4.5 Right to be Present

No one can take part in General Meetings unless they have been duly elected as a Member of the Club, and has paid their subscription according to these Rules, except in the case of persons outside the Membership who have been appointed by the Committee to act on the Clubs behalf.

Well done Geoff!

That was very quick for you to put all that together, good job!
Now let's see if we can move forward on this matter and get a proper club like Mike tried to organise before.

Not wanting to throw a spanner in the works (I like all of the above suggestions, and am open to either £5/SSC visitor or taking from Platinum funds if available), is it worth tying-up with Bas and NSXCE? Would NSXCE be deemed suitable for the SSC organisers? Not sure if they're a formal club or not...

Can we not let this go dormant again please as I think this is very important for the "club" moving forward.
I am going to have a word with a colleague this week about insurance and get him to give me some ideas on price for temporary cover for SSC and yearly cover.
I can see other event organisers going down the same route as SSC as things are becoming a very no win no fee society, which is a very sad way for things to go, but that's the way people are now!

I agree with Ian on the inportance of sorting this... I spoke to an insurnace broker last night and he said for what we were looking for PLI one off event £91.00 which covered stand, stand banners, flags, tents, slippy mats etc. For an annual insurance for 4-5 events he would need to check but looking at around £200-£250. The insurance side is straight forward, anyone could take out PLI. he mentioned that he already has individuals who take a cars to small shows insured there stand or pitch. It looks as if what Silverstone require is a " NSX Club " where they would need to see confirmation of our constitution.

Geoff,
- all well and good until something goes pop; then, should our insurers decide that they won't pay, the aggrieved parties insurance company will go after the club and ourselves as its members.
Other motoring clubs I belong to have been set up as limited companies with the members guarantee and with liability set at £1/member in the event of being wound up to provide such protection.
Seem simple, but with it goes the need for and cost of a formally audited annual account.
Not a sexy as our own club, why can't we [say, and with their permission] join the S2K club and let someone else have all the hassle.

Our own formal club has my support.

I do not think audited accounts for such a simple Ltd company would be very expensive. I have seen such work done in trade bodies I have been a director of for £200-300 per year. I am sure there must be qualified accountants amongst our members who could find someone to do the work if they were not willing to do it themselves. I would also be surprised if we did not have someone with a legal background out there somewhere.

I am a Fellow of the Institute of Directors and have held many Directorships of commercial and charity organisations and I have been a trustee of pension schemes all carry some degree of personal risk but all are manageable, and therefore acceptable, with sensible governance and relevant insurance.

We would only need a small number of directors to volunteer - here is my virtual hand going up.

Don't disagree...Limited Liability with each member having 1 share is the way to go, but for our own Club. The NSX marque deserves it. Count me in as a volunteer Director

Honda asked clubs for a few vehicles to attend CarFest this year and I was lucky enough to attend.
They had their display area under the heading of The Honda Owners Club and had road sign type sign posts positioned around the whole site directing people to their different areas. All the posts had an individual sign on them for The Honda Owners Club and I wondered if they had possibly set up a club for the same issues as we are currently having?
An online search shows the Honda Owners club to be a motorcycle club but wondered if Honda may already have something in place that we could tuck under the umbrella off as a sub division. I'm sure Mike has already asked the question but thought I would check just in case.

I'm a Chartered Accountant, and Nick Graves I believe still works in (has his own?) practice. So the club has free advice from 2 members at least on the acc'y side. Plus a couple of experienced Directors and it won't be difficult to run.

Ref. accounts:-
- The club won't need an audit, just an accountant to certify the accounts prior to filing. I've not got a practicing certificate, but Nick will hopefully post up that he has.
- Accounting will be very straightforward...happy to set up an Excel spreadsheet to record income / outgoings...if someone else can do the month-on-month data-entry I'll pull the y/end accounts together for Nick / someone else to certify.

Ref. Limited Company:-
- Off the shelf co's (clean) tend to be ~£100 to purchase, but can be set-up for a lot less with a little bit of legwork. I've no experience of club / member guarantee type of incorporation, but that does sound the right approach.
- Non-account filings should be minimal - an Annual Return plus any directorate / company secretary changes.
- It may be possible to set up as a charity / non-profit organisation, to avoid any taxation issues. Again, not my area of expertise...

Ref. Insurance - Ian, if you've got contacts then will leave that to you.

Can I suggest that we have a call (conference) to discuss what can be done, who should do what and agree a plan going forward ?

I can set up a conf call number for everyone we just need to agree a date/time. For this purpose I will start a new topic.

Hello Mike,

Following the posts re SCC and the 'club'. Really enjoy the meetings and all your knowledge and help since I bought my car.
Sorry you have been forced into this position but do understand it.
Happy to join a 'club' and provide fees, so please just let me know. I am sure most people would be happy to pay to be in the NSX club or Ltd company.

Sounds like a good idea Mike.

I will very surprised, if as a club we really need to be looking at a Limited Company, seems a little extreme to be honest.

Hi, Ollie.
Happy New Year to you and your family.

Please allow bit more time as there are number of members here spending lots of time in order to sort out this discussion.
I only joined the conference call yesterday for the first time with my head still moving back and force with high fever so apology to everyone who were at the meeting for my not speaking clearly and also going off-topic or not talking logically from time to time.
I only woke up around 5pm yesterday after completely dead from Sunday afternoon....

I was being kept updated on the previous discussions through email and I think there is a plan to post on here the discussion so far and package proposal in the future.

I don't know whether the members wanted to be named or not so for now, I'll just refer them as the members but there are several members spending their precious time in organising the meeting, attending the meeting (yesterday, we spent about 1.5Hr), talking with Honda UK, contacting insurance company and getting the real quote, risk management, club format (limited co. or association, etc), fee, how to keep some sort of connection between the Forum and the Club, advice from accountant, tax concern, bank account or other format for the club fee, web domain for the club, etc, etc, etc and they were doing these around the most busiest time of the year last year so it may feel slow but continuously making the progress.

I'm in no position to do so but personally, what they achieved so far deserve mentioning and at the same time, they are aware of some of the key time limit for several events.

I may move some of the posts on here in order to keep the attendees list separated from the Club discussion as there is already a thread for that.

We're planning on arriving at Silverstone early afternoon Friday then leaving Sunday lunchtime.
I've never been to this event before and don't have a feel for how busy it will be - does anyone know if this might cause any issues with getting the car in or out during the day?
What are those staying at the Holiday Inn Northampton planning on doing - staying on at the event Friday / Saturday nights then driving to the Hotel late or baling out late afternoon / early evening?

hi, look here... http://www.nsxcb.co.uk/showthread.php?12766-Announcement-The-HONDA-NSX-Owners-Club-formation

basic lowdown... to get a silverstone code we had to have public liability insurance, or they wouldn't even entertain us having cars there, 25 years or not!!! to get PLI we had to form a club to pay for the PLI, so now you join the Honda NSX owners club, then get access to the members area of the forum, which has the code in it!

Firmly established as the World’s Biggest Classic Motor Racing Festival, this year’s special Silver Anniversary running of the Silverstone Classic (24-26 July) is already breaking new records. For the first time in the mammoth meeting’s glorious 25-year history, more than 100 car clubs will add to the high-octane atmosphere with huge displays creating a magical infield motor museum at the Home of British Motorsport.

Last year’s spectacular three-day extravaganza raised the bar by attracting an unprecedented 93 clubs, displaying in excess of 10,000 cherished classic cars right at the heart of the award-winning event. Those records have already been topped in 2015 with – to date – no fewer than 110 clubs signing up for money-saving Display Packages.

Moreover, as part of this summer’s birthday bash, bike clubs are also being offered the opportunity to take advantage of these fantastic deals that include two adult admission tickets plus an infield parking pass which allows members to display their car or bike on their registered club’s bespoke stand.

“These sparkling displays are a very important and integral part of our celebration of classic car culture and – like the event – with every year they grow and grow,” enthused Nick Wigley, Event Director. “The record number already registered shows the clubs are coming out in force this summer, once again providing everyone attending the Silverstone Classic with a wonderful spectacle.”

While the magical event will mark its own 25th anniversary in terrific style, as tradition dictates many of the car clubs will be paying homage to their own landmarks with eye-catching track parades on Friday and Saturday. Motoring milestones being honoured on the full Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit this year include 60 years of both the TVR Car Club and Aston Martin DB6, 50 years of the Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, 40 years of the Jaguar XJS and Triumph TR7, 30 years of the Sinclair C5 and Toyota MR2 as well as 25 years of two iconic Japanese sportscars: the ground-breaking Honda NSX mid-engined supercar and the equally evocative Mazda MX-5, which first reached the UK in 1990.

Although car club members have until the end of May to register, Early Bird tickets are currently on sale for visitors wanting to join the party atmosphere. These offer significant savings of up to 15 per cent if purchased before 1 April. Adult prices start at just £34 and stick to the Classic’s widely praised ‘access all areas’ policy, thus providing admission to both National and Wing race paddocks, trackside grandstands and the live music concerts which this year include chart-toppers Status Quo and Paul Young.

Full details of all tickets (which must be purchased in advance) – as well as hospitality packages and weekend festival camping – can be found on the official www.silverstoneclassic.com (http://www.silverstoneclassic.com) website.

Gentlemen,

it is with deep regret that I have to withdraw from Silverstone, and I doubt I'll be able to make Japfest either, the RAF- in it's kindness - is sending me overseas again, this time to UAE for 6 months!

I'm gutted as the amount of time and money I have spent on my car so far to get it ready for Silverstone. But that's life I suppose, it'll look all the better for next year ( I really wanted to do the parade lap though)

Just wondering, what if those members with multiple NSXes managed to get their cars to Silverstone....might bump up the numbers a bit?

Good NEWS ! Honda are once again offering Marquees, and Topiary for the SSC 2015 event
Now the fun begins negotiating with SSC over what we can have on the outside, as many of you are aware they were not at all happy that the HONDA name appears in larger red letters and they dont pay towards the event - I am seeking guidance from them (SSC) as to what is acceptable, so I can go back to HONDA - I do not think it would be fair or reasonable to accept their kind offer and then cover up all of the manufacturers logo.

I will keep you informed as time goes on, hopefully we can reach a mutually acceptable position on this otherwise we may end up using my tent and no topiary :-(

Unfortunatly due to the requirement of Public liability Insurance for the Silverstone stand, we have needed to establish a club alongside the forum. You need to also join the club to gain access to the club code.

Hope that helps

SENNA INSPIRED SUPERCAR

JOINS SILVER JUBILEE

CELEBRATIONS

• Honda NSX turns 25 with massive Silverstone parade
• The mid-engined two-seater that redefined the supercar
• Record number of NSXs to mark quarter century
• Japanese cavalcade also marks key Mazda, Nissan and Toyota milestones

It’s not just the Silverstone Classic that will be celebrating its Silver Jubilee at this summer’s special staging of the World’s Biggest Classic Motor Racing Festival (24-26 July) – it is also 25 years since Honda launched its game-changing NSX.

Back in 1990, two-seater mid-engined sports cars typically were Italian, highly-tuned and temperamental. The NSX, though, refined what a supercar could be – it was user-friendly, ultra-reliable and didn’t cost a small fortune to service.

Taking its name from the words New, Sportscar and eXperimental, the revolutionary NSX was technically advanced, too. It was the first production car to feature a weight-saving all-aluminium monocoque body and was propelled by a high-revving VTEC V6 all-aluminium engine mounted amidships and powering the rear wheels as the genre demanded.

While the Honda badge may not quite have had the same lustre as those of Ferrari and Lamborghini, the Japanese company was running rings around both of its Italian rivals in F1 at that time.

Turn the clocks back 25 years and Ayrton Senna was en route to the second of his three World Championship titles – all secured with McLaren-Honda. Indeed, the legendary Brazilian was also involved in the initial testing of the NSX at the Suzuka GP circuit in Japan and later in working with the company’s engineers on the finalisation of the suspension and handling set-up.

The late triple champion’s nephew, Bruno Senna (below top left), has strong memories of his uncle’s involvement in the project. Speaking after reacquainting himself with an NSX at last year’s CarFest, he enthused: “It is special for many reasons. It’s the car that Ayrton helped Honda to develop, so it’s always a real pleasure to drive something that he played such a major role in.

“It’s also the first fast road car I ever drove, in Portugal sitting on Ayrton’s lap when I was just a kid; he was controlling the pedals and gears while I was steering! It was just great fun and the first time I’d ever had a thrill like that, so the NSX always brings back some fantastic memories.”

Boasting such an incredible pedigree – and with Honda poised to launch an all-new NSX – the original has become a bona-fide classic, so it’s no surprise that the NSX Club Britain is expecting a record turn-out of more than 60 models for its special Silver Jubilee track parade at the Silverstone Classic.

Indeed, the Saturday lunchtime cavalcades will be given over to Japanese sports cars. As well as the notable NSX celebrations, there will be 300 MX-5s celebrating the 25th anniversary of the UK launch of the iconic Mazda two-seater plus parades marking important milestones for the Toyota MR2 Mk 1 (30 years), Nissan Skyline GTR and Nissan Sunny/Pulsar GTI-R (both 25 years).

These anniversaries are just three of more than 30 that will be honoured at this year’s Silverstone Classic. A record number of 120 clubs have already registered for dedicated in-field displays, suggesting last year’s record of 9000 privately-owned classics on show will be surpassed in July.

Additional clubs – representing both classic cars and bikes – have until 31 May to be part of this massive festival. Registration is via an official form that can be found at: http://www.silverstoneclassic.com/carclubregistration. Members of registered clubs can then use a dedicated booking code when buying tickets.

General admission tickets give access to all pits, paddock and infield displays as well as trackside grandstands and the majority of the family entertainment including funfair rides and the live music concerts. Full ticket details (which must be purchased in advance) – together with hospitality packages and weekend festival camping – can be found on the official www.silverstoneclassic.com website.

Hi, Roy.
Congratulation on becoming the proud owner of the NSX and welcome to the club.

I’m afraid the sale of the Club ticket of which includes the Car Pass for the infield Club display area (Club stand) was closed at the end of May and no longer available.
In order to join the parade lap, you and your NSX must be present at the Club stand on Saturday before the lunch time so having the Car Pass is essential.
Without it, you will be asked to park in the public car park outside of the circuit just outside of the main entrance.

Each Car pass has individual car reg. no. printed and thus, not transferable unless having the info updated through the organiser. There was on-line process available for this purpose but again, it’s closed now.

If someone has the valid car pass but can no longer make for the event, you may be able to have it exchanged with the one showing your car reg. no. by visiting the 'Ticket Collection' located in the Car Park 50A on the day of the event. You will need to exchange the car pass for a new one, if eligible to do so.

So far, none of us has received the ticket/car pass for this year’s event so can’t tell whether there is any differences between the Club ticket and the general public one (the one you seem to have ordered) or not and I don't know whether you are allowed to use someone's car pass or not if the original car pass/ticket holder can't make the event (it states not transferable).
Therefore, not sure you are entitled to exchange someone’s car pass for your ticket.

For other event, from time to time, the organisers issued extra car passes to the club's event co-ordinator but not sure that is the case for the Silverstone Classic due to the fact that each car pass has to show the make, model and the reg. no. printed by the organiser.

Finger crossed.

As an additional info, if you managed to get hold of the valid car pass, you may want to consider becoming the Platinum status here on NSXCB (contribution required) and joining the Honda NSX Owners Club (separate membership fee required) in order to be covered by the Public Liability Insurance (PLI) that is mandatory for each car Club attending this event due to the request by the organiser.

Hi Roy and welcome to the club,

It could be worth a begging phone call to Silverstone to see if they will allow you late entry but as Kaz has mentioned, you will need the club code for which you need to also become a member of the Honda NSX Owners Club to obtain.

As the infield pass came as part of a ticket package, you may find that you will also have to purchase another ticket to gain a pass though.

Olly

Entry TIckets are the same for Car Club and Public - the only difference is the infield Car Pass needed to get to the Club stands

That would have been one hell of a lens to get me in the picture.....Unfortunately I was 40 mile in the distance!! But I appreciate your attempt at some "anti- Red" banter. Your effort was more intelligent than most of the anti red drivel written on this site!

Quick question....

As I have gone mad and booked two days this year can anyone let me know the situation around camping on site:

If camping do we leave cars at the display or drive them to the camp site, or have a choice?

If I decide to upgrade to a b&b or hotel (probably a few miles down the road!) what is the latest you can get out of the infield area as I would like to stay around for the evening entertainment?

Cheers

Morning Paul, I too are camping and I was led to believe by an official at the media event I attended that you simply drive your car to the designated camp site and then camp next to your car.

B&B in the area, will, as you can imagine be completely booked by now.

See you there,
Clive

if you are camping , you can do either... leave the car on the club stand and wander over to the campsite, or drive and park beside your camp! depends on the weather really!

and there is no limit as to what time you can leave, it's not 'closed' as there are too many people/racers staying on the infield! so there is no problem driving off site after the evenings entertainment, apart from a bit of traffic as everyone leaves at the same time!

hope that helps

Hi Paul,

I camped last year and took my car between the tent and the display area each day. The only problem I had was that the campsite was very dusty, and ended up having to wash my car each morning once I had put it back on the stand. There are buses which run very frequently between the circuit and the campsite right until the entertainment finishes.
There is always security around the display areas so cars are quite safe left on the stand. For me the issue was leaving my things in an unattended tent all day so I chose to store my belongings in the car boot and move the car between the two.
I believe there are quite a few of us staying at the Northampton Holiday Inn. Ian and Sharon have arranged a club deal for us and there is a code for it on the Silverstone threads somewhere. Could be worth giving that a try if your looking for something a bit more comfy than the tent.

Hi Olly,

Great, thanks for reply, I have the same issue as you mention re leaving stuff in tent, dust! Lol can't have the dirtiest car on the stand... Don't mind a bit of camping, but holt might be an option, still a few thing s to sort but will be able to make a judgement on what you have told me.

Looking forward to seeing you in a few weeks

As above - have been for the last 6 years and there's always a number of cars left on club stands overnight...doesn't seem to be a problem.

Camping across the road from the main entrance is walking distance, even if there are no buses...

We're camping, travelling down Thursday so should be pitching up Thursday early evening.
Intending to move my car on to the club stand Friday morning and probably leave it there until we leave Sunday.

you will receive email from See Tickets once they have dispatched the ticket.
If ordered using the Special Delivery as the delivery option, then you will get the tracking no. info through the same email as well as on the See Tickets website.

For those camping, please be aware that there were several arrests made at the camping sites during the British GP last weekend as bad people were stealing items from the empty tents…..
Unfortunately, it seems to be happening every year…..

Hi Mark
Welcome to the forum.
NSXCB is a free access forum. To run the forum members are asked to make a donation from which you then obtain Platinum status.
This year Silverstone have insisted that we have Public Liability Insurance if we wish to have a stand, so we have been forced to form The Honda NSX Owners club in order to acquire the appropriate insurance.
Once you have Platinum membership status , you can then join The Honda NSX Owners Club, and from this, you can then get the appropriate code to obtain an infield pass.
Unfortunatly the official deadline for infield passes has expired but if you have spoken with Silverstone and they are still prepared to issue you a pass then you may be lucky.
If you look through the Silverstone threads the procedure has been repeated several times.
Good luck and hopefully we get to see you at the event.

Hi, Mark.
I was busy servicing and washing the NSX yesterday before returning it to the owner so didn’t have time on here.
It was 'lotusolly' who replied and kudos goes to him.

Some of the following info would be the repeat of what lotusolly already mentioned above but I’m afraid the sale of the ‘Club ticket package’ that is required for displaying one’s NSX at the Club stand (infield section) as well as for the 25th anniversary parade lap was closed by the end of May.

You can still buy the ‘General’ event ticket until 5pm 23rd July 2015 (subject to availability) but you will be asked to park at the public car park (outside, next to the main entrance) and thus, not possible to take your NSX infield or join the parade lap.

From this year, the organiser requested all Car Clubs joining the event to have Public Liability Insurance (PLI) cover in place and thus, we had to setup ‘The Honda NSX Owners Club’ separately from this public open forum in order to be able to apply for the PLI through the insurance company.

It’s too late (or is it??? as they asked you for the Club code even if the sale of the Club ticket package was closed) for this year but for the future reference, in order to access the ‘Club code’, you will need to be at 'Platinum status' of this forum and addition to this, you will need to join ‘The Honda NSX Owners Club’ to be able to access the ‘Club area’ of this forum that contains the ‘Club code’.

The 'Club area' forums are hidden so you won’t be able to see them without fulfilling the required two conditions described above.

You already paid the Club member fee so you already know the procedure but in case someone else visits this thread for the same reason, please refer to the following for the detail.

http://www.nsxcb.co.uk/showthread.php?12766-Announcement-The-HONDA-NSX-Owners-Club-formation

Hope the organisors can support us as there seemed to be several owners experienced ticket ordering issues and ended up without the tickets/car pass despite visiting the event web site and going through the ordering process.

Hi TAPAV. Sorry......You will not be able to use your stand ticket for your golf. I had just come out of hospital last year and tried each day to get passed the stewards on the gates in my Audi as I was unable to get in the NSX. The registration can be changed , still needs to be a NSX.

Don't worry, I have no intention of trying to put a golf in the NSX area! Not too fussed about the stand, I was just joking about following you round the track in a golf, as Honda can't get a drive shaft seal in 2-3 weeks! (yet i can get one from japan in 4-5 days). I will find out Wednesday evening if the NSX will be ready or not. I will be more than happy to give my pass away if not.. Fingers crossed it won't come to that!

Hi, Mark.
Not sure you sent the PM to Mike or not as there is no way for him to link your payment detail with the userID on NSXCB.

Although you joined the forum last August, you may have never used the PM (Private Message) feature so I just contacted Mike.

He has confirmed your payment so I enabled your Club area access.
Should be able to see the hidden forum now.
