Euro Car Parts have an online sale at the moment - Mobil 1 oil is £35.98 for 5 litres, which is pretty good. Get it while you can!

BTW. If you have a branch local, buy it online and collect, they don't honour their internet prices over the counter unless you buy that way.

Just picked up 4 x 5 litre cans of Mobil 1 0w40 for £122 delivered & 2 OE (15400-PL2-315) oil filters for £19 delivered from eBay. Bargain.

That is a bargain but I can trump you with this. 9 x 5 litre Mobil 1 0w40 cans for free ;) Had to pay £5.0 for 2 x 25 litre cans to tip it into. I love working for the world of advertising ;)

Is Mobil 1 0w40 the preferred oil for our cars? I have drained mine as I am changing the sump so will need to buy some.

I use a Fuchs fully-synth (ester-based) 5w-40 - used to be called Silkolene Pro-S, forget the full name now. ~£40 for 5 litres when on offer through Opie. Any good fully-synth will be OK, as long as it's changed regularly.

"Proper" classics use heavier weights to reduce the risk of oil leaking through tired seals (e.g. mate's old Sunbeam Lotus used 20w-50). Not sure the NSX is there yet, but worth thinking about...although my 2p would be that the most damage to an engine is done on start-up so a low initial grade is better.

If your changing the sump it might be well worth while considering this oil, especially as its been designed by Mugen for our high revving VTec engines.

After searching on the inter-web it seems impossible to find a supplier, but one guy on a BMW forum quoted it costing £120!!!!!
So suppose it depends on how serious you take Mugens technical advancement and know how in this oil, so I think I'll stick to my Mobil 1.:)

Thanks guys. I will most likely stick to Mobil 1 then as it will probably only be in for 6 months, maximum 1k miles.

I have put Amsoil 0-30 in mine. I used it in my previous car, Galant VR4 twin turbo tuned to 330 hp for 70k+ miles with no issues nor any consumption between 4500mile changes.I also changed the auto box oil x3 with Amsoil ATF (as used in Galant) and the changes are now much better than when I bought the car. Even Norton Way commented on the improvement. Nevertheless, I agree that for engine oil with 1K annual changes most good synthetics are more than up to the job.

Very true. Also they do Castrol Edge, both grades, at £30 + vat 4 litres, and sometimes £25 + vat if on special offer.
