I didn't know that the NSX played such a prominent role in the inaugural FoS back in 1993....

....The NSX has a long-standing relationship with the Festival of Speed. In 1993, at the time of the first Festival, a fleet of 10 NSX were showcased at Goodwood. Launched in 1990, the original NSX was already known as a ground-breaking exotic car, delivering super performance and handling, without compromise in usability and ergonomics. Driven by UK journalists, the 10 NSX made a thrilling impression on visitors to the first Festival of Speed.

Yep, something extra-exciting to look forward to this year.

I was planning to be there Fri-Sun, but I may now also pop along for a few hours on Thursday (Moving Motor Show day) to get an early look at the NSX.

True, but Justin Law managed it (in great stye) in an XJR 8/9 built for Le Mans and I would argue a car built for Pikes Peak should be more suited for the Goodwood Hill.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWTs7B8qMVQ

Gregory Guilvert drove the T16 last year and threatened to be fastest until the final runs:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qH3Ciy0ja6A

Given suitable conditions, I have little doubt that in the hands of Loeb the car will be quicker than anything else up the hill this year. Whether he can eclipse 41.6secs will be interesting to see:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qH3Ciy0ja6A

A word on the T16 wing....you might reasonably imagine this would have been a unique, carefully designed and honed item for the Pikes Peak car, but what they actually did was borrow a wing off one of my favourite Le Mans cars of all time, the Peugeot 905 EV:

So do we know if this would be the transverse V6 mule or the L one?

WhyOne?
24-03-2014, 08:59 PM
This could get interesting (and potentially messy at Molecomb!)....for the first time at Goodwood the supercars will be running against the clock:
http://www.goodwood.co.uk/festival-of-speed/news-and-coverage/articles/supercars-against-the-clock.aspx

As the NSX's appearance is referred to as a '...global launch...' I imagine that the the car will be pretty close to production spec?

That would be the clue then! So far afaik they only had the T mules not the L mules.

Hi Ary,

So this is just my simple thinking, but I'm of the opinion that they are already running the longidutal prototypes. Here's my thinking ...

In the grey original it was displaying the split tailpipes tucked vertically against the out bumper edges ...

But for the running blue version that we saw and heard at the Honda Indy200 last year, the tailpipes are now centrally mounted that for me would suggest the LT layout ... which incidentally they announced shortly 'after' this first moving demo .... and as we know it sounded superb.

Anyway, its just my theory for now .... be interested to see where the tailpipes are come the summer ...

Could well be Paul, but car makers can be so irrational when it comes to exhaust tailpipes placement! Think 918, Corvette and lotus/vx!

Would be nice if it was the L one! Gutted I will be working that weekend! I hope plenty of videos are taken!

looking at the exhaust design, the centre exit is commoned to all cylinders and is used all the time, nice and quiet for in town. the outside pair are for each bank, and have a valve in the pipe, for the higher revving, free-er breathing loud moments! Audi R8 has similar exhaust valving to get round noise level guidelines!

Jonathan,

That is true too! I think that the twin turbos will no doubt change the purity of the NSX sound. If only they did away with technology for one special edition. Semi racing small displacement NA V12 as it has perfect cylinder balance! Do away with electric motors and offer a real box! We got more chances of that than cheaper fuel!!!

looks like the Honda's own red auto Nsx is there, and some old 'black facelift with red interior' tat has been shipped in ;)

i really do think they should have thought up a different acronym for it, as there is no NSX lineage, no reference to the original, much the same as the BMW mini is nothing to do with the original Mini......... just my opinion which carries no weight!

i take it Honda decided it didn't want to do the european dynamic debut??? rumours were 3 cars were coming, then just the one, and now no mention on the goodwood site of the NSX in the supercar demos... :(

Having seen the car in the flesh today I must admit, I like it too, although wasn't keen from the previously published pictures. Seems to be very well proportioned unlike an oversized GTR although the styling is more LFA functionality than 458 style.

The carbon elements on the wheels are not a structual part. They cover over the wheel nuts so have to be detachable from the wheel and appear to just be cosmetic.

Had another wander around the car today - it feels like it's really wide compared to the older NSXs but isn't that the norm now?
The Porsche 918 is too wide to fit through a 6'6" gap. The 458 would have an inch either side not including mirrors. It's madness.

Nevertheless, what about this...
