View Full Version : 5 Years as a Daily Driver and My NSX needed some TLC

More pictures added below.....

With my son's wedding fast approaching, I wanted my NSX to look its best.
Five years as a daily driver in all weathers had certainly taken its toll and it was starting to look tatty.
The main issue was that the lacquer was starting to peel in places, particularly on and around the door handles and the rear bumper. I can only assume this was due to poor prep when it had had previous work done before I owned the car. There were also a lot of swirl marks in the paint which also required attention.
The other thing that really let the car down was the wheels. Unfortunately they are after market but I don't currently have the budget to replace them so for now, I decided that a refurb in gloss black was in order.

....and for some reason, I am unable to load any more picures

What error message are you getting?
I think you can only load 4 pictures per post but I see you are not a Platinum member so I'm not sure if that will limit you further (like the stored PM limit)....

Not getting any error message, just doesn't load the image.
I Need to pay my subs. Can anyone confirm this is the issue.

as far as i know the subs extend your PM inbox and perhaps the number of pics you can host on this site. (i see that you are adding the pics as attachments, so they are hosted on this site)

as for pics in the posts, there is a limit of 4 non-text things, like pictures and emoticon smiley faces!

if you put your pictures on imagecave, or photobucket (or such like) you should be able to link to them in the thread using the [ img ] method! but you will still only get 4 per post!

Do you mean per post or per thread.
I thought I would be able to add 4 pics at a time to each response but it aint working.
Shame, I wanted to share this small resurrection with you as I am pretty pleased with it.

4 pics per post..... maybe upload them to photobucket and use the [ img ] pic posting method....

Hi Martin,

red calipers are a pet hate of mine for OEM calipers so hope you change them during the refresh. If you haven't painted the wheels yet, are you sure black against red is the right choice?

Good luck with the work, looking forward to the thread updates ...

Yes, thanks Jonathan.

Paul,
Oh dear, I am sorry mate but I opted to stick with the red, and am really happy with the way the wheels turned out.
Finished inside and out with gloss black....

While waiting for the wheels to dry, Andy (my now bestest mate ever) decided to have a play with the front wing to find the right pad and polish combo.
After playing around, he seemed to find it so we were hoping for some great results from the paintwork.

A couple of half and half shots of the door, didn't realise just how bad it was until I saw it like this.
Sorry they look different shades of red, thats just the camera's auto white balance.

Can't wait to see the whole body refreshed.

All paintwork now machine polished, still one or two spots where the lacquer is a problem but not much can be done without a repaint.
Maybe some point in the future but that will be an expensive job.

Front of car finished. Although you can't see it in the picture, the front edged of the bumber still has lots of tiny white spots, another bit that really needs a repaint but its as good as we could get it for now.

The roof had at some time previously been repainted but it has never been this shiny since I have had the car.
You can now actually see an orange peel effect.

Congrats on the gleaming body work.

Very impressed on how you got the black door trim refreshed.

The wheels are that too bad, considering you are budget restricted.

Great result Martin,

When can I bring mine for you to do? ;)

Regarding the wheels.....as long as you are pleased is what matters...everybody have their own opinion and likes and dislikes.
Looks much better than before!

Hi Martin,

nice result and as Kare rightly says, it's individual choice that matters. I can't tell from the pictures whether you have any H badges for the hubcaps, if you'd like some, drop me a pm as I'm sure I've some spares that would work for you if interested,

Thanks all, for all comments and I wish I could take credit for it all.
Andy, 'my bestest mate ever' who I mentioned earlier does actually do it for a living so he does know what he is doing.

Thanks Paul, The centre caps are honda ones but obviously not for these wheel so I has to bastardise them a bit. They are also gloss black and have the H painted in red.
What is it you have exactly, they may look better than what I have,

Whoa, hold on, who said anything about giving it to him as a wedding present. I love him but......
I just said he could use it on the day. :-)

Hi Martin,

I had a selection of replica centre cap "H" badges made for my 02 wheels. Depending on the caps you have used you can either use with the outer 'square' of the logo, or simply remove and use the "H" as a stand alone option. Not sure what colours I have left, but if I have red or silver set you are welcome to them to finish of your refresh. I'll have a look this evening and let you know.

regards, Paul
