Isn't that Dales old car (NSX 1) ????

I think the owner is being a tad over ambitious thinking it can be put back together on a Q plate!!!

... anyone fancy a nice NSX Trailer??? 8)

that is definately Dales old car

Q plate or use for trackdays

.... spares only I reckon

engine & box are worth the £3.5k though, with some extra cash available by selling off any other decent parts (genuine Mugen boot spoiler - no longer made)

a sad sight indeed - here it is in better days...

Horrible..... Has anyone heard what component failed to started the fire? or was it after an accident?

Reminds me I really must carry a fire extinguisher in the car at all times. Who else does and where/how have you mounted yours?

Mark

fire extinguisher mount (http://daliracing.com/v666-5/catalog/index_browse_part.cfm?focus=95) - cost = $45

this one bolts through the 2 mounts at the front of the seat (either side) - you mount your fire extinguisher mount (supplied with fire extinguisher) to this mount and then mount it just under the front of the seat.

example fire extinguisher from Halfords (http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=10151&productId=159479&categoryId=31488#) - cost = £27

That was my baby it was my pride and joy and still miss it
I feel a bit sad I was thinking about it the other day.
It gave me a lot of pleasure and others who came out with me in it...

Glad to know you are all well :D

Hi Dale, very sad about your old car. :(

Actually we met at a Porsche RS day at Oulton Park a couple of years back when I was 993 mounted. NSX1 stood out like a sore thumb.... in a good way. 8)

Do you know how the fire strated?

Darren, thanks for the link to the extinguisher mount. Just looking for some other Dali goodies to make the shipping cost good value.

Dale,

Sorry to read about your loss, you'd obviously spent time and money on the NSX. What did cause the fire??

For those maybe considering the group buy, had you done any other mods to the car worth noting over those already mentioned?

regards

Hi All

The engine & gearbox was Std most of the mods where on the kit & the wheels.
It had uprated Tein suspension.
Not sure what caused the fire :x

I take it that the NSX 1 plate is now looking for a new owner.

Hi Mark gald you are well..

Darren thanks for the Email catch up soon

I have come across that NSX 1 no. plate fetching something like £ 27,500

So dale, what yr is that car??

ctrlaltdelboy

it's a 95

yep, NSX1 is currently listed at regtransfers with an asking price of £27.5k, and at newreg at £29,995

both still unrealistic, but not so much as a year ago when it was up at £60k

If people seriously want parts from this car then I might buy it, thought of a few things I could use.

Let me know.

There will be almost nothing of any use on that car forward of the engine bulkhead!

You can see where the aluminium has literally burned away. I doubt that the doors are even straight at the leading edges and temperatures that high could change the metallurgy. If any of the interior is intact (loom and instruments will be shagged) the smoke damage will be a major issue to deal with. I would even question whether the ECU etc would be any use.

Whilst I agree with the last post I suspect there'd definately be some good salvageable components in there which I may be interested in. I wouldn't buy it myself as I have nowhere to put it but if someone does then let me know.

I would be interested in the rear light clusters if it's being broken up.

Dale - sorry to see this :(

Was it still your car when it happened?

I assumed it was a crash and then caught fire, but since you don't know what started the fire... I guess not.

Dale sold the car to a guy in Reading named Amjad some time ago - this has happened since then.

I am hopefully seeing the car soon, will decide then if it is going to be worth it or not.

I had the pleasure of the cars company on a trackday in 2003, when it was Dale's NSX 1. A very sad sight and i hate to be one of those stripping flesh from it's bones.

From memory, Dale had modded the engine a bit. I also recognise a Zorstec stainless back box which is £600-£700 new.

If anyone buys the salvage, i'll take the Type S style Steering wheel and the wheel boss, assuming grubby but not damaged.

Good luck bidding.

I rang up the guy and he said he bought it like that and was going to do it up but never got round in doing so..

Not sure if that was the same chap that the car was sold to tho....

i will be interested in some bits if we are doing a group purchase..

simonprelude

OK I am going to see the car on Saturday, will assess it and with enough interest on here will buy it.

Am obviously looking to cover my costs ASAP so would like to hear from anyone wanting parts.

I have room on my driveway for it but only for about a month or so before it gets in the way. In that time most bits must be stripped and the shell ready for disposal I can store parts in my garage but not the shell.

If I do this I really don't want to be out of pocket or having £££ sat around the place waiting for buyers.

trackdemon

I may be interested in rear bumper, steering wheel & o/s rear wing - I crumpled mine against a wall 2 years ago  and shipped a s/h one in from the states but it doesn't fit perfectly. Def need o/s plastic air intake insert, and a couple of Honda wheels centre caps (does anyone else find they fall out when driven hard on bumpy roads?)

If the engine management module was undamaged by the fire I would be interested in buying this. I dont live far from the car so I could help with collecting and dismantaling.

Simon, did you get to look at the car?

simonprelude
28-03-2006, 09:05 AM
No I never heard back from him after dropping several messages via flea bay. The description has now totally changed and from rumours he is expecting a minimum of £5k.

£3.5k is now for engine and gearbox only, fair price I suppose but it's putting a lot of money away that I may get lumped with. Can't really look at tying money up for a duration, it has other uses :)

If only the engine was a 3.2

I did speak to the chap and he wanted £5k for the whole car

But he doesn't have the 'whole car' :!:

So, 3.5k for the remaining 3/4 seems fair!!!

I think the seller is dreaming

a market will find it's own price, and the fact that it has zero bids at £3.5k is an indication of what the market is prepared to pay for it.

simonprelude

TBH I think the ebay auction is a way of getting 'cheap' advertising, ala complete car for breaking, however this auction is only for a wheel nut.

This car is being relisted & relisted.

Now it's starting at £350.

Edit: Ah I see the auction is now for the rear lights. Maybe the parts people want will come up one by one.

ctrlaltdelboy
30-03-2006, 12:06 PM
well, £350 for the rear lights (all 3 pieces) is for sure a discount to the list price from Honda, which is £1,000, but it's a good distance from the real market price for these - I have seen them change hands (used of course) for between £100 and £200 per set (I got mine from a seller on NSXprime for $150)

as I said before - a dreamer

I noticed the car is listed as a 'Buy It Now' for £5000 on Ebay (Still!). The scary\funny thing is he's written...

"The Car Is Almost Complete As You Can See The Car From The Pictures"
WTF??? An 'almost complete' car it is not, not by any stretch of the imagination!!!

Perhaps the most incredulous part of the advert is this...

"Engine Is In Good Running Order, As I Have Had It Running"

... so he's connected up a radiator and hoses from elsewhere and had it working eh?? I do hope he's bending the truth here as the engine wouldn't run long without coolant (not to mention all the crud that would have been sucked in from the fire!)
